Provides quantitative expertise that advances the epidemiology of the effectiveness and safety of Pfizer productsLeverages Real World Data (RWD) in support of the Regulatory lifecycle strategy across the portfolioDevelop statistical programs that analyze RWD within the framework of epidemiological methods and study designs
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities
Commensurate with experience and skills:
Apply epidemiologic and statistical methods to further drug early development, as well as drug effectiveness, safety and equitable use Perform analysis of observational data to support publications, exploratory analyses and method developmentConduct feasibility analysis of large EMR/claims databasesImplement and test new methods for data mining and other epidemiological analyses as well as new statistical softwareAdapt and apply computer-intensive methods for high performance large scale screening and large data set analysesPlan and execute appropriate implementations of statistical models to optimize database study analysesDesign, perform and document quality control checks for programming solutions including documentation of the programs and the process of producing tables, reports and analysis summariesAdminister epidemiology databases and programming activities to increase study analysis efficiencySupport ad-hoc requests from within or outside of the Epidemiology departmentBe a subject matter expert for at least one rapid cycle analysis toolIdentify opportunities within the department for efficiency/process improvement, contingency plans, and alternate strategies, as appropriateWork within team environment to ensure alignment of common goals and maintain positive interaction with team members and internal peersWork independently on multiple projects prioritizing according to Analytics team and departmental needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in Computer Science or related field with a statistical focus or alternatively a masters degree in statistics (or a related field) with demonstrable extensive focus on computer programming; preferred with 3 years or more programming in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and/or regulatory agenciesSignificant experience in the application of epidemiologic programming to large observational databases in the study the safety of medicines required.Experience in applying epidemiologic methods to study the safety of medicines.All Senior Associate level capabilities plusExpertise in SAS/SQL programming including statistical analysis procedures and expertise in SAS/Base, SAS/Stat, SAS/IML and SAS Macros and strong understanding of SAS/GraphDemonstrable expertise with leading the implementation of programming solutions on very large data sets based on epidemiological protocols, Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) and/or technical specifications documents.Highly experienced in establishing and implementing appropriate quality control when designing programming solutions in a pharmaceutical company
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Very strong and extensive computational skills with experience in several languages, software packages and applications such including R and PythonExperience with other statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, Stata, or SUDAAN )Extensive experience in use of multiple sources of claims / health care data and/or public and private epidemiologic resourcesExtensive experience with visualization software is requiredVery strong organizational, written and oral communication skillsExtensive demonstrable experience in conducting highly detailed tasksEvidence of consistent capability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExtensive experience and knowledge about data collection, data manipulation and analysis of very large databasesExpertise in state of the art developments in Epidemiology programming solutions and their applicability to the work of the Epidemiology Analytics team
