About Quality Specialist & Inspector - Flight Test Operation

  Job Description Summary

  The Lead Quality Specialist will support quality control (and quality assurance as necessary) activities for GE Aviation Flight Test Operation under guidance of the Quality Manager. Ensure correct alignment with quality requirements. Ensure that manufactured, repaired, or procured products meet specified standards before they progress to next phase of production or customer delivery.

  Responsible for inspection of aircraft, aircraft components/sub-assemblies, engines, engine components/sub-assemblies, manufactured hardware/test systems/instrumentation to support flight test. This position will require comprehensive knowledge of applicable FAA framework, GE Quality, Boeing 747 aircraft systems and turbofan engines. Inspectors' duties include but are not limited to the following: Preliminary Inspections, In-Process Inspections, Hidden Damage Inspections, Final Inspections, Approval for Return-to-Service, Receiving Inspections.

  In this role you will be responsible for complex assignments with business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to business deliverables. High levels of evaluative judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

  Roles and Responsibilities

  Ensures that work performed is properly documented and complies with written policies, procedures, industry standards, and FAA regulations as applicable.Act as quality interface with GE Aviation Flight Test Operation and Customers. Work across functions to assure proper Quality issues management to minimize impact on safety, quality, and trainingCoordinate activities to guarantee correct non-conforming material management. Conduct the preliminary review and work with Material Review Board to disposition nonconforming material and devise remediation actionsBe thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the review methods and should have the ability to apply detailed Inspection techniques to products or parts within his/her limit of qualification.Ensure that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work before it is approved for return to service and that the proper inspection and maintenance records and forms required for such release are properly executed.Ensure all materials, equipment and parts being used are appropriate and meet the standards and requirements set by the applicable Manuals and/or approved technical documentation.Verifies that tools and gages utilized in the maintenance, inspection, repair and manufacturing areas are maintained within calibration cycles and are adequate for the required measurements.Conduct internal audits and support FAA, GE, and customer audits and assure implementation of corrective actionsPrepare, communicate, and oversee quality plans. Assure that adequate inspection / test plans are defined and supervise on their correct applicationAssist in drafting and reviewing quality policies, procedures, practices, and instructionsOversee evaluation of test equipment and measurements instrumentsAnalyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system and processes; develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actionsInvestigate and conduct Root Cause Analysis following customer complaints, quality escapes, non-conformance issues or other quality issues and implement corrective actionsMonitor and discuss with team members quality metrics (KPIs), trends, procedure changes, corrective action status, Lesson Learned etc. on a regular basisActs as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.Oversee fulfillment of contractual and regulatory requirements to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Capture lessons learned to continually improve execution processes.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college in aviation sciences, quality systems, engineering, or related technical disciplineMinimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly or test

  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  Ability and willingness to work off-shift hours (including 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, nights, weekends and holidays) when business needs dictate.Capability and willingness of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds(with or without assistance).Able to work heights up to 80 feet.Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations as business needs dictate.Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft including participate in development flight tests.FAA Airframe and Powerplant LicenseAbility to obtain and maintain FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalentAbility to meet all requirements of Zero Tolerance DOT/FAA and Alcohol Testing Program (14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40)Must be a US CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain US DoD Clearance

  Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.Established project management skills.Ability to guide, coach and influence others.Experience with maintenance, repair and overhaul of Boeing commercial aircraft and GE/EA/CFM commercial turbofan enginesExperience with maintenance planning and maintaining technical records for an in-service commercial type-certificated Part 25 aircraft.Five years of wide body aircraft maintenance experience as part of a Part 145 repair station or 121 operators.Three years of experience as aircraft maintenance licensed (A&P) mechanic or inspector.Three years of experience in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service.At least one year of experience as a supervisor or lead of aircraft maintenance.Five years of diversified maintenance experience with large transport category aircraft. This experience may be with an air carrier, commercial operator, certified repair station, or other government agency.Familiarity with aerospace test environment; prior flight test experience preferred.Prior experience interfacing with FAA and knowledgeable about 14 CFR Part 91 Operations, 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Stations.

  The salary range for this position is 96,000.00 - 128,000.00 - 160,100.00 USD Annual. The specific salary range offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
