Summary This position is located in the Office of the Undersecretary (DUSO), Office of Communications, with two vacancies in Silver Spring, MD. Responsibilities As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Write, edit, and put through clearance material to be provided to the news media, including news releases and talking points. Arrange media interviews, news conferences, and develop responses regarding media inquiries and public feedback. Plan, design, and execute public affairs activities and campaigns to inform and educate the public about NOAA's programs, science, and services. Plan and execute short and long-term strategic communication plans and advise management on these communication plans. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
