We provide a vital core of inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, and emergency services in a caring and personal community setting in Northeastern Connecticut.* * Overview: We’re seeking a motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our experienced team of clinicians who has a passion for patient care in the outpatient setting. This position will cover two locations; Willimantic and Storrs. These sites are part of Windham Hospital’s outpatient department and offer an opportunity to treat a wide variety of patients alongside our growing team of physical therapists. Specialty programs include post-op orthopedics, musculoskeletal disorders, hand therapy (CHT), sports medicine, gait training, balance/fall prevention, neuro conditions, headache management, vestibular rehab, work injury rehab, and more! Apply now to join our growing team! Description: Under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) administers Physical Therapy treatments to patients. The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides assistance to the Physical Therapist by supplying objective measures to be utilized by the Physical Therapist in evaluation of patient’s level of function and determination of treatment strategies. Responsibilities * - Assists the Physical Therapist with aspects of patient assessment by performing delegated duties such as testing for joint range of motion, muscle strength, and mobility status, identifying rehab precautions. * - Under the clinical supervision of the Physical Therapist and as delegated by the Physical Therapist, perform therapeutic techniques that are appropriate to patient’s needs and medical status. * - Provides patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use as delegated by the Physical Therapist. * - Completes all documentation including but not limited to: evaluation, care plan and goals, patient status and progress, visits, patient discharge summary, and patient care transition plan and summary. * - Assist the Physical Therapist with patient transition planning and/or patient discharge planning including recommendations to community resources to meet patient needs throughout the continuum of care. Help to coordinate patient care with other care providers such as Rehab Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and other community resources as related to care transition planning. These standards allow us to bring out the very best in our clients and our staff. * - Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program * - Previous experience in acute care or outpatient setting preferred * - Current State of CT Physical Therapy Assistant license required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately. Ability to prioritize daily work assignments. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use). Proficient skills in windows based software (including word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation programs). Working knowledge of Sate Practice Act and Federal Medicaid and Medicare regulations. Problem Solving and Decision Making Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction. Requires high level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information from various sources. Able to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
