Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides storage, compute, and other solutions to customers globally. Our customers trust and expect us to protect their data with impeccable physical security by continually evolving security practices to mitigate risk. The AWS Design & Engineering Data Center Security Team provides physical security solutions to protect AWS personnel, AWS facilities, and information of our customers. We’re seeking an experienced Physical Security Engineer who will serve as a technical resource on regional coordination of physical security device maintenance at our data centers including site visits and evaluations of device health. You will coordinate with cross-functional peers, system integrators and technical teams from conceptual device repair feasibility through work order planning, device repair prioritization, implementation, testing, and deployment for physical security. You will collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple time zones, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, and find creative ways to accelerate device health.
The ideal candidate for the role will be willing and able to work across multiple disciplines, at all levels; from physical security device system design and layout. You will have an in-depth knowledge of security technology, be innovative, highly organized, and know how to deliver results on time and on budget. The role may involve travel and your ability to work autonomously is essential. You must understand and effectively apply program-management and project-management best practices. You may be asked to use your knowledge to assess processes, program plans, and operations requirements. The team you will join is a multi-functional team, and you will have a unique opportunity to develop highly-portable skills and insights into physical, technical, and cyber security practices and procedures. That is why, no matter the discipline, you will be expected to develop and maintain general data center security knowledge and skills (through OJT if necessary), so that you can fully participate in cross-functional collaboration and sharing with partners and colleagues. This is a crucial requirement for this role, which may at times require you to work and act independently on behalf of the entire team when others are unavailable or separated by time or distance.
