Under direction from thePharmacist-in-Charge and other pharmacists in the Specialty Pharmacy,the Pharmacy Technician I is primarily responsible for assisting thepharmacist in obtaining all the necessary information for dispensing andadjudicating a medication correctly. The Pharmacy Technician I\'s mainobjective is to answer phone calls and contact the doctors and patientsvia fax or phone or other communication means. The Pharmacy Technician Iis also responsible for accurately translating prescription informationand all other information obtained to dispense the medication into thepharmacy dispensing software. The Pharmacy Technician I may also beresponsible for selecting the medication to be dispensed, attaching theprescription label to the medication, and ensuring all prescriptioninformation is packaged with the dispensed medication in advance of afinal check by the pharmacist. The Specialty Pharmacist is accountablefor verifying the prescription and medication in a final check prior toits shipping. The Pharmacy Technician I may be responsible for obtainingand verifying patient information including demographics, allergies,medication history, comorbidities, and payer information. Responsible for answering theinbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcareprofessionals. Responsible for contacting doctors to obtain necessaryprescription information to properly fill a prescription. Responsiblefor managing the queues and working oldest orders first. Responsible forthe correct shipment of the specialty pharmacy orders. May beresponsible for ensuring adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals in thepharmacy, including ordering, receipt, verification of orders, andstocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
