The Boeing Company has exciting opportunity for a Mission Systems Architect (Level 4 or 5) to lead the definition and development of Mission Systems, Mission Computing, and Mission Systems Architecture solutions for Phantom Works in Berkeley, MO.
The Mission Systems Architect will work across both software and hardware integration concepts aligned with our program growth strategies. The successful candidate will offer subject matter expertise (SME) across one or more of the following areas:
• Mission Computing Architecture
• Mission Systems Hardware & Software integration
• Mission Systems Certification (DAL / LOR)

The Phantom Works Mission Systems Team develops complex, highly integrated, advanced systems into autonomous platforms enabling future growth for Boeing and our customers. We need innovative engineers like you to help shape the future of military aviation by developing and integrating next generation Mission Systems capabilities as part of a very exciting and critically important autonomous systems.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads mission systems architecture development
Lead mission systems growth strategy roadmap
Leads mission computing solution space development
Oversight of technology readiness level (TRL) development and maturation plans
Evaluates customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements
Lead analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
Provides interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify lifecycle-balanced system of systems solutions
Resolves cross-functional technical issues
Supports the design and integration of open architecture Mission Systems solutions; such as, Open Mission Systems (OMS), and Open Communication Standard (OCS)
Collaborating with customers to ensure needs, requirements, and commitments are being met
Analyzes supplier performance to ensure compliance with requirements
Researches advanced technologies for potential application to company business needs
Supports proposal efforts, including authoring portion of technical volume and providing estimates of required work to accomplish scope
Workplace: This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Travel: Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years' experience with complex mission systems development
5+ years' experience with hardware & software utilized on air vehicle, avionics, weapons, or mission systems
5+ years' experience with mission systems strategy and growth architecture roadmaps
Experience with integration of complex systems
Experience with mission systems safety and certification
Held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
9+ years' engineering experience with autonomous aircraft platform mission systems
9+ years' experience with developing, documenting and maintaining complex architectures, requirements, software-to-hardware interfaces, and designs for systems
Experience in Level of Rigor (LOR) or Design Assurance Level (DAL) certification
Experience developing system requirements, verification plans, functional decomposition / allocation, and interfaces.
Communication experience, both written and verbal, with a comfort in public speaking and frequent interactions with external customers
Experience with avionics integration and verification
Experience working with multi-discipline engineering team
Experience working with suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
Experience working with USAF or other DOD customers
Typical Education & Experience:
Senior (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range (Level 4): $119,850 - $162,150
Summary pay range (Level 5): $143,650 - $194,350
