POSITION: NETWORK ENGINEER
LOCATION: FORT WORTH
DURATION: 6 -MONTH contract / temporary to hire
RATE: $47-60/HR
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent. This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 10 pounds on occasion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs day-to-day operations and supports enterprise class network environment, including troubleshooting, support and resolution of customer issues.
Oversees projects and initiatives to ensure compatibility and interoperability between multiple environments and systems.
Researches and recommends solutions for enterprise infrastructure.
Investigates and proposes design changes to increase availability, security, and efficiency of the overall network/server infrastructure.
Implements, upgrades, modifies, monitors and supports network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless devices and related hardware and applications.
Participates in scheduled change management and participates in incident management as needed.
Has good understanding of networking concepts.
Has experience networking PCs, Servers and Cisco network switches.
Has good understanding of WAN and voice protocols.
Has knowledge and experience with installing and configuring Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers and wireless access points.
Understanding of routing protocols (i.e., gateway, subnet mask, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP & QoS Technologies).
Experience with LAN Switching (VLAN, Trunking, Port-Security, EtherChannel, Spanning-Tree Protocol).
Understanding of TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS and WINS protocols.
Working knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling.
Develops, documents, and maintains problem resolution procedures for various network systems.
Implements and maintains information assurance security policies, guidelines, procedures, and remediation/mitigation practices.
Documents and logs all work-related activity in departmental service support ticketing system and facilitates best practices for customer service support.
All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong knowledge of Networking Standards and Topologies.
Strong working knowledge of virtual infrastructures and virtualization techniques.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory group policy objects (GPOs) and organizational units (OUs).
Skill in troubleshooting, researching, analyzing, evaluating, and solving technically challenging problems involving integrated systems.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; possess resourcefulness and complex problem-solving capability.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing about technical subjects to non-technical users in a manner in which they can easily understand.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline, or the equivalent in experience.
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience.
Licenses:
Valid Driver's License required.
Certifications Required:
ITIL certification or ability to certify within 6 months of full-time. Cisco CCNA certification preferred or ability to certify within six months of employment.
Reading:
Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Math:
Knowledge of advanced level of math to apply fundamental concepts of theories, work with advanced mathematical operations methods, and functions of real and complex variables; typically, this level obtained in college or above.
Writing:
Advanced ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Managerial:
The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee may choose the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance is reviewed periodically.

Supervisory / Organizational Control:
Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
Complexity:
Work is governed by broad instructions, objectives and policies. Requires the exercise of considerable initiative and independent analytical and evaluative judgment.
Interpersonal / Human Relations Skills:
Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
