Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, CA needs a qualified Principal or Sr. Principal Network Engineer to perform key assignments for Mission Systems off-net Engineering and Manufacturing networks. This position supports large heterogeneous unclassified networks that support physical and virtual hosts with an emphasis on supporting NextGen manufacturing network automation and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices. This technical role requires an understanding of network administration, systems architecture, cyber security, and information assurance and requires the ability to support a diverse user community in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities include:
Network design, implementation, and evaluation, hardware/software installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, tuning, automation scripting and general user support. Duties will also include maintaining system documentation, developing infrastructure support procedures, and providing security support.
This position can be performed by a Principal (level 3) or Sr. Principal (level 4) Engineer, based on the candidate's education and experience.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:5 Years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related Technical field; 3 Years of experience with Masters. Additional years of experience are accepted in lieu of a Degree.Proficiency with networking devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.Proficiency with Cisco networking hardware and operating systemsProficiency with various network topographies (data center, LAN, and WAN).Proficiency with TCP/IP connectivity utilizing UTP and fiber optic media.Understanding of Networking technologies including:VLANs, VLAN trunking, Link Aggregation (LACP, LAG), Spanning TreeLayer 3 Routing, CIDR subnettingVirtual chassis and clusteringProficiency with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.Design, implement and maintain complex systems and networks. To Include ISE, DNA Center, Cyber Vision, Stealthwatch and Industrial Network Director to manage Juniper network infrastructure.Familiar with Cisco Firepower Layer 7 Next generation firewalls and applying L7 signature-based firewall policiesExperience performing troubleshooting with traffic capture tools; such as Wireshark and tcpdumpExposure to next generation networking technologies including:Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentationUnderstanding of VXLAN and logical networking conceptsExperience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.)Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.Experience with network automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Ansible, Python, JavaScriptCCNA or CCNP certification or equivalent is a plus!Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
Salary Range 2: $120,900 - $181,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
