Join us.We are currently looking to hire a Modeling Engineer - FEA to supportATI\'s Technical Research and Development Teams. As a Modeling Engineeryou will contribute to and expand ATI Specialty Material\'s capabilitiesin computational materials science by developing and utilizing processmodels to address issues relating to the manufacture of specialty alloysand make predictions of relevant properties at various stages throughthe manufacturing process. This position will be based in Cudahy, WI(Milwaukee) or Monroe, NC (Charlotte). A successful Modeling Engineer isalso a thought-leader, and problem solver who enthusiastically tacklechallenges and achieves results while dealing with ambiguity and changethat accompanies working in a research environment. To add to yourknowledge, you will also need to periodically visit relevantmanufacturing facilities in order to gain insight into the issues to beaddressed. Additional Responsibilities Utilize process simulation tosupport manufacturing process improvements that result in better productquality and lower manufacturing costs. Conduct testing andcharacterization in order to generate data necessary for modeldevelopment, validation,. Communicate results to management, colleagues,and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations.Propose, defend and execute project concepts for new products, costsavings, quality improvement, and process innovation. Collaborate withtechnology and research colleagues across ATI. Maintain industryexpertise and current knowledge of developments in process modeling byexperimentation, attending meetings and conferences conducted by tradeassociations, by reviewing trade and technical literature and byperiodic visit to customer, supplier, and other ATI manufacturinglocations Basic Qualifications M.S. or Ph.D. degree inMechanical/Materials Science Engineering with experience in one of thefollowing areas: metallurgical process modeling, integratedcomputational materials engineering, finite element analysis,computational fluid dynamics and/or numerical methods to solveengineering problems. Experience in modeling fluid flow and orsolidification of metals (or) Experience in modeling forging of metals,grain size prediction. Experience in one or more relevant commercial FEAprograms. Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Basic Qualifications)3+ years of experience with one or more of the following: Ni-basesuperalloys, titanium alloys, specialty steels, or metal powders.Experienced in C++/FORTRAN/Python programming.
