Role Purpose:
This position will drive the execution of Market Access strategies specific to the Edwards' BU portfolio of innovative therapeutic solutions for structural heart disease and/or advanced critical care technologies in Japan.
The successful candidate will drive synergies across the assigned BU/BU's and foster strong internal and external relationships to achieve market access goals and objectives.
This position is based in Tokyo, Japan office and reports to the Director of Market Access, Japan.
Essential Job Functions:
Convene regularly with the business unit team: Public Affairs, Medical Affairs, Marketing and Clinical Affairs to ensure alignment of Market Access (MA) goals and objectivesDevelop reimbursement and health technology assessment (HTA) submissions in partnership with the commercial teamDevelop economic models, dossiers, presentations, and other materials to articulate and enhance the value message associated with our new technologiesCollaborate with global GHER partners to develop / obtain necessary tools which can include, GVD's, evidence, and economic tools Coordinate with Government Affairs team on lobbying efforts to increase therapy awareness, improve market access, and achieve reimbursement goalsProvide consultation to the interpretation of clinical, economic, and humanistic evidence relevant to the relevant business unitsProvide appropriate guidance & support in educating sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal teams regarding when appropriateIdentify and develop MA commercial pull through strategies to increase access for products already launched in the region
Required Education/Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a life science, health economics, health policy, or related field is requiredAdvanced degree (e.g., MBA or MPH) is desirableA minimum of five years of Medtech related Health Economics, Reimbursement or Market Access expertise with demonstrated success. Previous experience in, or strong working knowledge of, medical device industry, especially with functional responsibility in health economics outcomes research and reimbursement planning and program implementationExperience with Japan market access environment and ability to effectively communicate and incorporate regional requirements in overall strategic plansUnderstand key public and private payer policy infrastructure, payment methodologies coding and coverage; health policy trends, and current business challengesCommunicate complicated matters in a simple, structured way to internal and external customersExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially presentation developmentExceptional project management skillsStrong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs staff) to provide insight into key market access issues
