The Data Governance Lead will play in integral role in driving data standardization & governance across the organization. The Data Governance Lead will work within the Data Strategy & Analytics team to support data management projects, manage the Data Governance resource pool, establish a data governance culture, implement tools and capabilities in order to meet Garrett Data Management objectives. The Data Governance Lead is responsible for Garrett Data Landscape by documenting and analysing ERP and non-ERP data models, data catalogs, data flow diagrams, data integrations, business rules.
The role will require knowledge of, and experience with, tools and technologies to govern & master data in traditional and big data environments along with proven experience in driving & implementing data governance projects, project management.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a data governance strategy & Data Literacy aligned with the organization's overall objectives and data-driven initiatives.
Create and maintain data governance policies, standards, guidelines to ensure consistency and data quality accross data assets
Establish a data governance framework, roles and responsibilities, processes for data management, data usage, data retention, data security access
Implement processes, procedures and controls to monitor and improve the data quality, including data cleansing and data validation processes
Ensure data security
Develop a data classification system. Implement a data catalog to document the data assets, their lineage, metadata
Define access controls to ensure the data is accessible only based on user roles and permissions
Lead and build meta data repository for full data lineage & ownership across the organization
Implement technical data validation rules and define/maintain business rules for critical data elements
Provide technical, analytical and strategic support for the creation of business rules, data dictionaries, metadata, data lineage flows, presentations and other documentation - act as a Sr. Data Architect to support data management initiatives.
Act as IT focal for all data management projects
Evaluates, selects and implements data governance tools and technologies
Conducts regular audits of data governance policies and processes and ensures adherence to them
Defines KPIs for data governance and reports the effectiveness of data governance initiatives
Execute projects based on data strategy
Integrate project plans, schedules, cost and organization wide-metrics across multiple projects(s)/ program(s) and organizations; assesses variances from the plan and develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure project meets time, cost and quality objectives
Identifies and obtains resources to support multiple projects/or organizational objectives or a program
Mentor Data Analysts to become data governance professionals
Manages approved AOP budgets; tracking actual against forecast; reporting monthly status to sponsors; Provides inputs on AOP /STRAP planning
Manages external Vendor relationships and SLAs
Continuous review and improvements on the data governance processes
We need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline;
10+ years in data management/governance related field
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
10+ years in data management/governance/architecture related field
Minimum 5 years experience with Data Management tools, data cataloging, data quality tools, data governance
Data modeling, data architecture experience, business analysis competencies, business acumen;
Experience in leading data governance initiatives / projects
