Purpose:
This role is a key leader in supporting global of the Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) and assist Abbvie manufacturing sites with development of their maintenance groups and reliability programs, targeting critical equipment assets for optimization and continuous improvements activities. The function of the Global Reliability Engineering Manager is to help to identify and manage equipment reliability risks that could adversely impact plant or business operations. The individual is responsible for driving continuous equipment reliability improvements by providing and coordinating technical support, and by managing the reliability improvement process for the global manufacturing network, with the aim of reducing downtime risk to the business.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) by targeting critical equipment assets for optimization and continuous improvement activities. Train employees on reliability processes, train supervision on the impact that the operators and technicians can have on reliability.
• Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety systems. Responsible for adherence to Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle.
• Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures, and apply knowledge in methods and processes to prevent, or reduce the likelihood or frequency of failures in equipment.
• Analyze failure history to determine the reliability characteristics of key systems, and from this analysis, develop long-term solutions to recurring issues.
• Develop and enforce an Asset Operations Plan that will ensure optimum utilization and efficiency of facility assets, and development of an Asset Maintenance Plan to ensure effective maintenance practices are in place for each plant asset on the asset register.
• Implement and manage global initiatives, practices and governance for Site Reliability Programs including but not limited to RCA, RCM, PdM, PMO, asset hierarchy, cost analysis, and equipment maintenance plans.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) by understanding and applying failure data analysis techniques, perform analyses of asset and production equipment performance to include asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time between Failure (MTBF) and remaining useful life as guiding parameters.
• Support Network Sites in generating asset management plan that includes value-added preventative maintenance tasks and determining the most effective predictive and other non-destructive testing methods to identify reliability problems.
• Work with Project Engineering to review maintenance and installation plans for new equipment, and provide reliability and maintainability specifications for changes , to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment. Participate in equipment specifications development, factory and site acceptance testing, and commissioning plans to assure adherence to functional specifications.
• Define an approach to risk management that will anticipate reliability-related , risks , that could have adverse operational impact.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is required, with a desired 10+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
• Has a career history marked by a consistent series of technical contributions and accomplishments. Significant contribution to product or process development or improvement through creative application of technical effort will equally be recognized.
• Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures. Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors. Exercises judgment and advises management as to appropriate actions.
• Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
• Detailed evaluation of a number of viable solutions to each problem at a time, requires proven problem-solving skills under pressure. Requires innovative thinking, where new and untested solutions are proposed, demonstrated and implemented on a regular basis.
• Requires a very high level of attention to detail , to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures.
• Must be results driven striving to meet all targets and metric standards as set by site/department and division leaders.
• Always requires total commitment to quality and maintaining a high standard of work and demonstrates the highest levels of integrity and a strong work ethic.
