Position Summary
The Manager of ESG Reporting within the Corporate Sustainability Team will support the American Express’ ESG strategy, with a specific focus on ESG reporting and disclosures (ESG Report, CDP, GHG inventory, etc.). The Manager will report to the Director of ESG on the Enterprise ESG Team within Corporate Sustainability, interacting closely with business units across the company and senior leadership. Additionally, this role will provide support with ESG Working Groups and ESG and sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities
ESG Reporting & Disclosureso Lead ESG Report in alignment with GRI, SASB, and TCFD: Report planning, project management, vendor management, data collection and validation, coordinate internal reviews and approvals, and ensure timely and quality deliverables.
o Lead annual CDP disclosure
o Contribute to other ESG Disclosures:
§ Support ESG-related disclosures including EcoVadis, ESG website content, advisory on ESG communication materials (i.e., press releases), Proxy, ESG content in non-financial disclosures, awards and recognition opportunities, investor questionnaires, etc.
§ Lead engagement with ESG rating/ranking agencies as needed including MSCI, Sustainalytics, JUST Capital, and others.
§ Support international ESG reporting and disclosures as needed
ESG Data Management & Trackingo Support implementation of ESG data and reporting tools and technology, including Workiva
o Leverage data management tools and processes to support ESG reporting and identify/enhance processes to track, monitor, and evaluate progress against ESG goals.
ESG Strategyo Support implementation of ESG strategy across the enterprise. Partner with colleagues in CA&C, Global Real Estate & Workplace Experience, Global Supply Management, Legal, Investor Relations, Treasury, Global Risk & Compliance, and other business units to implement ESG initiatives
o Assist with conducting materiality assessment, goals and ESG strategy development
o Monitor ESG industry trends, best practices, and peer benchmarking to inform opportunities.
o Assist with developing decks and presentation materials for the ESG Steering Committee and ESG Working Groups, including the ESG Disclosure Working Group.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 5-7 years of experience in a corporate ESG & sustainability role with experience in ESG reporting
Bachelors’ degree (required) and Masters’ degree (preferred) in relevant field including Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies, Sustainable Finance, Business Administration, etc.
Proven experience and subject matter expertise in ESG, sustainability, and climate-related issues, frameworks, and reporting programs (CDP, TCFD, GRI, SASB, ISSB, GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), UN SDG’s, etc.)
Experience with reporting and data management tools such as Workiva, Salesforce, Persefoni, and others strongly preferred.
Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Must work well under pressure with a high degree of composure and integrity.
Critical thinking and analytical capabilities. Strong attention to detail, expertise in designing and implementing systems for monitoring and managing ESG data
Collaborative approach, exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to work cross-functionally and globally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Global financial services experience a plus.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
