Job Summary
The Manager, Data Engagement will play a pivotal role in driving CN Data Services data-driven strategy, leading a team of resources directly engaged with CN community and internal customers, to accompany them when engaging with CN Data Services. The team will regroup the current Self Serve Analytics team resources, that work closely with the CN Data workers community to enable them with Self Serve Analytics platforms and educate them through programs and content. It will also include the resources that have an advisory role with our business, assisting them in shaping their data initiatives, engaging the different CN data services to support their solution delivery and help them optimizing the value. This team will also execute the data literacy roadmap defined by CNDS strategy leads.
Main Responsibilities
• Develop the new Data Engagement team vision, service offering and roadmap,
• Communicate the new Data Engagement team vision, service offering and roadmap and facilitate the change management,
• Collaborate with the strategy team to define and implement the data literacy program and other services to educate and increase the business analytics competencies,
• Collaborate with other leads in continuous improvement and CNDS foundational initiatives,
• Develop and implement best practices for design thinking and visualization.
• Lead and manage data engagement resources (self serve analytics CoE, Product managers, Data Analytics advisors), setting clear objectives, providing mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
• Focus on communications and foster collaboration by regularly providing updates to teams about ongoing initiatives and encouraging teams to work together to accomplish common goals and learning,
• Provide a positive onboarding experience to new employees by ensuring they have access to the tools and resources needed to fulfill the job requirements,
• Handle employee performance by ensuring employees who are not meeting expectations are identified and supported through the improvement process,
• Partner with Human Resources (HR) to bring new talent to the organization by resolving which skills and roles will be required in the future and by making thoughtful hiring decisions,
• Participate in succession planning by contributing to the yearly talent review cycle and identifying employees with the potential to move up the management and expertise paths,
• Support employee development by regular conversations to reach their career goals.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and various I&T departments, to identify opportunities and deliver data-driven solutions that address business challenges,
• Maintain the relationship and work model with vendors, including evaluation of their efficiency.
Requirements
Experience
• Minimum 10 years overall work experience
• Proven experience (3 years) in a managerial or leadership role within a data service team or related field.
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in data analytics and data visualization.
• Experience working in railroad industry is preferred.
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor's degree specializing in Administration / Project Management / Computer Science / Business Analytics or other quantitative field, related degree or equivalent experience.
