As a Power BI Developer, you will apply your intellectual curiosity and passion for problem solving to dig into our mammoth scale of data to help unleash the power of retail data analytics by imagining, developing, and maintaining Power BI Semantic Data Models that our Walmart data users can rely on.
You will work with some of the brightest minds and most passionate Power BI developers in the industry, while y ou partner with Product Leads, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to solve complex and exciting challenges so that we can build out many self-service reporting and analytic products that enable our business to be data driven while making a positive impact on our customers' lives.
We are actively hiring Power BI Developers with complete knowledge of the Power BI landscape, with an intermediate or better working knowledge of both DAX and Power Query. If you are a Power BI Developer experienced in creating compelling data stories and illuminating meaningful insight in Power BI Desktop and have an exceptional understanding of relational and dimensional modeling concepts, you would be a great fit for this position.
About the Semantic Data & Analytics Team:
Our organization focuses on managing and delivering world-class semantic data model assets, including creating and maintaining dataset standards, driving policy compliance, creating partnerships, and enabling self-service reporting and analytics. We empower our business partners to leverage data easily with click-and-drag accessibility, eliminating significant energy typically wasted on data-wrangling.
You'll make an impact by:
Developing tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards, used for ad hoc and reporting
Connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business intelligence
Expertly using advanced-level calculations on the data set
Implementing row-level security on data along with an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI
Analyzing existing Power BI efforts with a focus on performance improvement
Understanding dimensional modeling concepts
Displaying strong knowledge of different data modeling techniques for data warehousing (3NF, Dimensional, Hybrid, etc.)
Developing visual reports, KPI scorecards, and user-friendly dashboards using Power BI desktop and Power BI Service
Deploying expert analytics skills to create visually compelling data stories and meaningful insights
Demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills across variety of stakeholders with an ability to negotiate with and influence others
Working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner
Providing skills training to business users
You'll sweep us off our feet if you:
Have at least 5+ years of hand-on data warehousing experience
Have at least 5+ years of evaluating and advising logical and physical data model to ensure Power BI models achieve optimal performance
Can analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions
Can perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts
Have experience working on large (100 TB+) scale data warehouses (DW)/ operational data stores (ODS)
Can validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness
