About the Role
Guide and lead employees to hit/set goals and objectives. Support Production initiatives to reduce downtime, improve efficiency and manage the maintenance staff based on priorities. Coverage for All Co-Ex-Tec buildings.
Your Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and coordinate activities concerned with design, repair, preventative maintenance, equipment improvements, and all aspects of facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates or contractors. Lead and manage personnel including resource planning, training and education. Supervise team members and contractors, monitor work progress and do final inspection upon completion of work. Responsible for the maintenance of all HVAC, Water Treatment Equipment, Compressors, Dryers, Chillers, Plumbing, Main Electrical Distribution Equipment, Lighting, Buildings, Grounds and Parking Lots. Regulate fire extinguisher / sprinkler systems and ensure all work meets N.F.P.A. 13, Ontario Fire Code and other applicable codes.
Direct and manage sustainability projects to team members to reach goals based on OEM customer and Magna requirements. Assist in defining equipment specifications, preparing cost estimates, planning and forecasting costs of new projects, making recommendations and providing technical support, as required. Ensure maintenance team maintains all production and related equipment, modifies existing equipment and installs new equipment.
Develop annual Business Plan for the Maintenance Department. Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
Conduct annual performance appraisals and update employee files. Communicate regularly with department personnel and follow-up on generated action items. Follow and enforce all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures. Provide on-the-job training and support personnel on all required shifts.
Generate/update work instructions/procedures. Resolve 8D issues. Complete all APQP-related activities, as required. Manage daily downtime; past due P/M’s; department overtime and other factors affecting variable cost using continuous improvement tools. Assist in completing PCR’s.
Perform regular workplace inspection. Perform accident investigation. Perform, direct and/or carry out any other reasonable duties as may be required or assigned by Management.
Who we are looking for
Post-Secondary Education (Electrical or Mechanical Engineer degree, preferred)
Minimum 10 years related experience, preferably in the automotive industry
Able to recognize all North American symbols. Good knowledge of health and safety act, fire codes, building codes, environmental laws.
Knowledge of metal forming, injection moulding, extrusion, and machining processes.
Working knowledge of Auto-cad and proficient computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use
Sound leadership skills (previous supervisory experience, an asset)
Your preferred qualifications
Certificate of Engineering Technician (C.E.T.) or higher diploma, preferred
Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
