Interstate Management Company, LLC d/b/a Westin Portland Harborview,located in Portland, Maine, seeks two (2) full-time, temporary Line Cookwho will be responsible for the preparation, seasoning, and cooking ofdishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, or desserts for theRestaurant/Dining Outlets, Cafe, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, andBanquets, while maintaining the highest standards to produce anappealing and appetizing product. May order supplies, keep records andaccounts, price items on the menu, or plan menu.
Will report directly to Executive Chef at Westin Portland Harborview.
Six (6) months of experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environmentat a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club.
Applicant must complete pre-employment background check.
Travel is not required.
Daily transportation to and from worksite is not provided.
On-the-job training is provided.
Wage: \$20.00 - \$26.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Overtime is availableat \$30.00 - \$39.00 per hour.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work schedule can vary and can includeevening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work may be performed on any day ofthe week from Monday through Sunday. Example shifts: 6:00am to 2:00pm,9:00am to 5:00pm, or 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Shift hours may vary.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due.
Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis forworkers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing withutilities, if accepted, is \$650.00 per month. If used, total cost ofhousing will be deducted from paycheck.
All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer willpay directly for and/or reimburse workers for transportation andsubsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Uponcompletion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissedearlier, employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs ofreturn transportation and subsistence back home or to the place theworker originally departed to work, except where the worker will notreturn due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employerwill pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonableinbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek.The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for allreasonable outbound transportation and subsistence costs during the lastworkweek. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will beequal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for thedistances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of\$15.46 per day during travel to a maximum of \$59.00 per day withreceipts.
The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least threefourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employmentperiod.
The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, andequipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visaprocessing, border crossing, and other related fees, including thosemandated by government (excluding passport fees).
