  The Opportunity

  The Life Company Internship is an amazing program where you’ll get to learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on-experience in the Life Company organization. The Life Company serves members with Life, Annuity, and Health solutions utilizing an omni-channel approach leveraging digital channels as well as our contact centers. Some areas our past Life Company Interns have gained valuable experience include Business Strategy and Planning, Distribution and Service, Product Management, Process Excellence, Business Risk and Controls, among others. Internship placings may vary depending on business needs.

Our interns deliver innovative solutions to real business challenges, while building enduring relationships in a collaborative culture with their manager and an assigned mentor.

  The internship is based at USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.

  What you'll do:

  Our Life Company Interns , work under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and guidance, perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members, including the following tasks:

  Supports the team in the implementation of customer engagement and product development plans.

  Applies foundational knowledge of the business and assists with alignment of business deliverable processes and capabilities with business needs.

  Gathers information and conducts research to support issues and process activities and assists the team in monitoring the overall health of processes.

  Partners with internal stakeholders in understanding business needs and opportunities specifically related to application/IT platform solutions.

  Analyzes data for planning and implementation of systems and upgrades and process changes.

  Performs and may coordinate business and application/IT platform support.

  Supports data reporting, analytics and project deliverables based on needs of the department

  As needed creates tactical data sets and automation to optimize and resolving business issues for assigned deliverables.

  Performs routine compilation, analysis, reporting and provides initial recommendations of data to improve operational effectiveness.

  What you need to have:

  To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree at a 4-year accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2024 internship will start on May 29, 2024 and last through August 9,

  Graduation date cannot be prior to August 10, 2024

  Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field at a 4-year accredited university.

  Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

  What sets you apart:

  Graduation date between August 10, 2024, and July 2025

  Knowledge and/or working experience in process mapping, modeling and/or process documentation.

  Up to 2 years of relevant process consulting or related experience.

  Up to 2 years progressive operational systems or data support experience.

  Up to 2 years reporting and/or data management experience with knowledge of data and reporting concepts along with exposure to applicable tools and languages (Example: SQL, Python, GGplot, Tableau).

  USAA views its internship program as a pipeline to possible future employment. This is based on an individual’s graduation date, performance, role qualifications, and business need. To be considered for possible future employment opportunities interns must meet the full-time work eligibility requirements for any given role. Thus, interns should ensure their sponsorship status and other provided information is accurately reflected on their intern application. Inadequate completion of your application may render you ineligible for further consideration in the hiring process.

  What we offer:

  Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location. The range for this position is: $23 - $34 .

  Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
