CVH (No. 2) is currently looking to add caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Licensed/Registered Practical Nurses (Full-time) to our amazing home family, who can serve our lovely residents, to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. Daily, our Licensed/Registered Practical Nurses will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practices in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care.
Duties:
· Ensuring exceptional resident care is provided while following protocols and maintaining physicians’ orders
· Observing, reporting, and recording vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents and initiating remedial health measures where appropriate.
· Performing nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, monitoring nutritional intake, and conducting specimen collection
· Providing nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
· Administering medication and observing and documenting therapeutic effects
· Organizing and directing functions and activities related to the provision of care to residents.
· Monitoring residents’ progress, evaluating effectiveness of nursing interventions and collaborating with appropriate members of the health care teams to ensure care interventions address each resident’s needs
· Assisting in the management of the work of other nursing and personal care staff.
· Training and overseeing professional development of new staff, referring concerns to the Director of Care.
· May provide safety and health education to residents’ families and other caregivers
· Such other duties as may be required from time to time that are consistent with duties performed by a registered practical nurse.
Requirements:
· Completion of vocational, college \ CEGEP or other practical nursing program.
· Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses or ability to obtain is required.
· Current registration or be eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario would be considered an asset
· At least 2 years of work experience as an RPN is preferred.
· Previous experience in a similar environment is preferred.
· Acceptable references from former employers.
· Acceptable criminal record check.
· Acceptable immunization records including evidence of up-to- date vaccination record for COVID 19 vaccination approved by Health Canada.
· Good English language skills (written and verbal).
· A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors.
· Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency.
· Developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the “big picture”.
