We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries to develop new therapeutics for millions of patients. Become part of the data revolution in drug discovery and work with experienced data scientists to learn how we leverage large biomedical data to reimagine medicine and improve lives.
The Oncology Data Science team is seeking an enthusiastic intern in data science motivated to work at the intersection of drug discovery and AI. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insights into the role of data science in fast moving and cutting-edge oncology drug discovery programs.
Timing: Q2 2024 (expected start date)
Duration: 6 months

Your responsibilities:
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate in-house data with publicly available data to answer key scientific questions.
• Apply AI / machine learning techniques in the context of biomarker and target identification. Examine recently proposed deep learning foundation models for single-cell transcriptomics.
• Contribute to the implementation of tools and algorithms enabling efficient analysis of biological data.
• Communicate your findings to other data scientists and/or scientists within the wider ONC group.

Role Requirements
Essential Requirements:
• Enrolled in Master or PhD programme or completed Master's degree in AI / Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong Python and R programming skills.
• Experience working with deep learning frameworks (Pytorch/others), knowledge of architectures, limitations and pitfalls.
Desirable Requirements:
• Clear communication and technical writing.
• Knowledge of AI foundational models for biology, experience working with 'omics data, especially single cell datasets.
