Insurance CounselorThis vital, patient-centered role provides education and guidance to DaVitapatients about health insurance and the implications of different insuranceoptions. This position helps patients understand their insurance options andmake informed employment and insurance decisions. The Insurance Counselor willhelp alleviate the stress that dialysis patients often experience innavigating complicated insurance options and employment decisions while alsomanaging their health care needs.To be successful, the Insurance Counselor must have a passion for customerservice and the ability to build trust and rapport with patients andteammates. Teammates in this role will gain expertise in motivationalinterviewing as well as expert knowledge of commercial and government healthinsurance benefits, financial assistance programs, and work leave options.
90% remote work; 10% travel to local facilities to provide education andguidance to DaVita patients about health insurance is required. Candidate mustbe located in Denver, CO or surrounding area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectationsof this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. The scope of theInsurance Counselor is primarily supporting patients who have existingcommercial insurance coverage or who are uninsured.Conducts patient insurance education while operating within establishedcompliance parameters of the companyIdentifies and effectively communicates opportunities to better the insurancestatus of the patient to help reduce or alleviate financial risk and burdenProvides information to patients to help them find and/or secure options forinsurance coverage and other financial assistance programs as necessaryProvides a high-level of customer service to patients across multiple DaVitaDialysis facilities to ensure educational needs are met and to ensure patientquestions or issues are addressed effectivelyCompletes insurance assessments/evaluations for patients to accuratelydocument patient education sessionsActs as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing office andthe corporate office to resolve patient insurance issues and/or concernsBuilds and maintains relationships with field partners (e.g. Home ProgramDepartments, Facility Administrators, Social Workers, AdministrativeAssistants etc.) to ensure seamless patient supportWorks closely with supervisor/manager to meet objectives, deadlines, andreporting/measurement requirements as they pertain to patient education.Provides monthly reporting and analysis on key metrics related to patienteducation and advocacy as well as actively participates in monthly operationsreviews on assigned patient portfolioSeeks to find opportunities for continued process improvement and reviewsideas with team and operational leadershipAttends team meetings, phone conferences, and trainings as needed; mayassist with onboarding and training of new teammates or other duties asassigneEXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR QUALIFICATIONSFull vaccination against COVID-19 or a medical/religious exemption isrequired.High School Diploma or equivalent is required90% remote work; 10% travel to local facilities education and guidanceto DaVita patients about health insurance is requiredThis role requires basic computer skills, high speed internet (minimum of40 GB) and a private workspace, and secure transportation to DaVitafacilities to perform the duties of the jobMinimum of two (1) years' experience working with Medicare and Medicaidinsurance as well as commercial insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO,POS, EPO, Indemnity) strongly preferredMinimum of two (1) years' experience in a healthcare organizationworking with clinical staff and patients preferredIntermediate computer skil s and proficiency in MS Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and Outlook required Power Point preferredBilingual/Spanish Speaking strongly preferred
