The Histotechnician will be responsible for performing all technical duties related to the production of histo-pathological slides and grossing tissue specimens (if credentialed by NOQ).
Technical Responsibilities
Prepare slides for pathologist and external clients for interpretation.Perform routine and special microtomy procedures.Perform routine H&E stains, IHC, and special stains.Perform routine tissue embedding.Perform Quality control of histology stains.Perform grossing of tissue specimens (if credentialed by NOQ).Operate and maintain histology equipment not limited to tissue processors, and automated staining platform.Aid in troubleshoot and resolving inquiries or problems within the laboratory follow all technical standard operating procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities
Record keepingEnsures the Sign-out log is maintained daily and filed appropriatelyMaintains numeric data on lab test outputMakes sure all reagents and solutions are properly dated and labeledAnswers phone inquiries and take messagesInventory Control--Ensures a consistent supply of reagents and consumables is always on handGenerates incident reports when appropriate

Job Qualifications
Associates degree (or equivalent course of study) or higher in Histotechnician programAssociates degree (full course of study) or higher in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and 1 of the following:1 year of experience or training in histology within the past 5 years under the direction of board certified pathologist orSuccessful completion of a course of training of at least 9 months in a histotechnician program
Or
Bachelors or higher degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences with a combination of 30 hours in biology and chemistry and 1 of the following:1 year of experience or training in histology within the past 5 years under the direction of board certified pathologist orSuccessful completion of a course of training of at least 9 months in a histotechnician programHT/HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.State Personnel licensure (when applicable)
