We are seeking a Head of Engineering to take a leadership role in our growing technology team. This role will be responsible for creating a technical roadmap by aligning our technical framework with business vision and leading our engineering team towards achieving the set goals. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in designing scalable, robust and efficient systems to support Kafene’s growth trajectory. Also, as this role will be highly interactive with various departments such as Product, Design, Revenue, Risk, Operations and Finance, core skills must include strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities:
● Lead strategic and operational planning to align technology and data initiatives with business goals.
● Drive the coordination, evaluation, deployment, and management of technology and data services across the organization.
● Ensure that technical infrastructure is maintained to a high standard to ensure security, scalability, and performance.
● Effectively partner and communicate across the organization, clearly conveying complex technical concepts and projects to non-technical stakeholders.
● Foster a culture of effective communication within the engineering team.
● Adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, including executing individual contributor tasks temporarily, if required.
● Guide risk assessment and mitigation strategies in the context of technical infrastructure and vendor reliance.
● Stay updated with relevant technology trends and incorporate them into the technical roadmap.
● Manage external vendors and third-party providers, as required.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
● BS in Computer Science / Engineering / Mathematics or commensurate experience.
● Demonstrated experience leading a large engineering team (in-house and offshore), with the ability to attract, recruit, and develop technical talent.
● Knowledge of QA processes and testing methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
● Awareness of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards to safeguard the company’s assets and data.
● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline the software development and deployment.
● In-depth understanding of software development lifecycle, processes, and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) to optimize productivity and quality.
● Experience in optimizing software performance and scalability to handle increased user demand.
● Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve technical challenges and roadblocks.
● Experience driving innovation and creative problem-solving within the engineering team.
● Familiarity with data storage, databases, and data management best practices.
