The Safety Culture and Human Performance Intern will be based in Atlanta, Georgia, reporting to Delta's Director of Personal Safety within the Corporate Safety, Security & Compliance organization. Through the internship position, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience designing and delivering safety programs and supporting Safety Learning/Training for Delta's Operating Divisions.
The intern will be responsible for:
Designing and developing components of Safety Leadership and cultural learning programs to address Human Performance, Behavioral science and Systems Thinking. Supporting the CSSC and Divisional Teams in the development of training/learning programs. Supporting the development and execution of Safety Learning Teams following significant events Supporting the medium-term strategy and plan for ongoing Safety Culture Assessments and follow-up improvement projects with frontline and leadership teams Supporting the 'Just Culture' agenda through development of communication and engagement materials and interventions
This position is heavily focused on integrating the concepts of human behavior and psychology into new and existing Personal Safety programs. The successful candidate will work directly with the CSSC Safety Team with exposure to operational and functional employees and leaders to develop processes, systems and tools that enhance the safety performance of the global airline.
Interns must practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures and possess Delta's core values of honesty, integrity, respect, perseverance, and servant leadership. The candidate must convey a professional image at all times. The position may require some travel (up to 20%).
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Enrolled in a degree seeking program in one of the following disciplines: Human Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Human Factors/Human Performance or Aviation Safety.Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Applications.Ability to effectively communicate information (verbal and written)Comfortable working in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment with diverse teams.Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
