As part of the Transformers Business Unit, the Global Product Group Transformer Components and Service strives to enable our partners to build superior transformers and manage their asset fleets throughout the lifecycle. With our comprehensive offering of services, bushings, tap changers, insulation, digital and analogue accessories, we are working with OEMs and end users all over the world. With the introduction and global deployment of technology platforms such as AirRIPflex or EasyDry bushings, Tsync tap changers and the digital TXpert Ecosystem, we have laid the foundation for further innovation and growth for the coming years.
As Global Product Technology Manager, you are accountable for the long-term business success of the Tap Changer product line offering to targeted end-user and OEM market segments, by developing and managing the portfolio through all its life cycle phases. Reporting to the Global Product Group Manager, you will translate market needs into business opportunities, own the offering and the value proposition, and drive the product line success in close collaboration with the wider organization and our partners.
Your responsibilities
Display technical proficiency and leadership: Drives GPG's technology leadership. Ensures the alignment of strategies, processes and corresponding R&D plans. Drives resolution of technology issues within GPG and BU Transformers. Is involved at an operational level in important and critical technology issues and/or projects within the GPG ensuring adherence to R&D gate model process.Set Technology and Platform direction: Responsible for creation and execution of GPG R&D strategy in agreement with GPG Manager and portfolio strategy. Creates, plans and follows up on GPG technology road map. Supports development & definition of GPG's global technology platforms and competitiveness, including the related Engineering platforms, processes and tools. Manages GPG Engineering manager.Foster innovation and creativity: Develops, secures and facilitates innovation process, and ensures key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place to be tracked. Leads scouting and development of disruptive technologies, applies and fosters design thinking, and enables bottom-up innovation / intrapreneurship methodologies.Provide R&D and Engineering context: Aligns R&D and Engineering with Product Management function to define market-oriented R&D projects, as well as mid-long-term oriented technology exploration and developments, together with global research, Hitachi group companies, or external partners.Support knowledge transfer: Supports and oversees transfer of technology and knowledge between the business and internal partners (Local and Global Business Units and laboratories).Grow and manage network and GPG visibility: Represents the Technology function to customers and internal/external stakeholders. Ensures representation to relevant universities and institutions.Manage Intellectual property (IP) and risks: Ensures adequate protection of IP and that IP strategies are created, targets set and followed up.Manage finance and investment budgets: Responsible for R&D budget and targets, set in accordance with parameters decided by Product Group Manager and BU Technology Manager. Insure consistent resources (budget & people) allocation in Technology Centers (TCs). Define and implement TC footprint strategy together with Product Group, BU Technology and TC managers.Drive people and competence development: Ensures that people processes are in place to enable the appropriate organization, competence and skills to exist or be developed. Guides, motivates and coaches team and individuals, both direct and indirect.
Your background
University degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, additional business degree or PhD would be a plus.Demonstrated track record in driving innovation, defining and managing technology platforms, and establishing approaches such as design-thinking, agile or bottom-up / open innovation.More than 7 years of experience in Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Service in an international/global environmentAbility to build and manage B2B-relationships, working with external partners and/or Start-Ups.Result-oriented, self-driven business leader with strong analytical, reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills.A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach combined with strong influencing and communication skills.Work experience with different countries and culturesWillingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
