  Location: London, UK

  6 Month Full Time Contract

  About the Role

  As the Global Category Manager, you will join the fantastic Global Marketing Procurement team responsible for setting the procurement strategy in how we work with partners to deliver optimized relationships within our talent, influencer partnership and sponsorship marketing activities. This role will work alongside our culture and sponsorship marketing teams as well as our local procurement category teams but also interact with other multiple touch points within our business.

  Diageo see talent, influencer, partnership and sponsorships as critical to helping us drive scaled reach of our brand such as Guinness and Jonnie Walker as well as making sure they are in the center of the consumers cultural experience.

  You will be responsible for setting the strategy on how we procure these services to meet the needs of the business and brands and then working with the stakeholder group and local procurement teams to execute this strategy. You will be seen as the subject matter expert for the category through the setting of these strategy, leading negotiations where relevant and managing relationships.

  This role is part of Diageo’s Global Procurement structure, as an above-market resource focused on developing world class category strategies as well as leading global and in market execution and performance management.

  As part of the wider Global Procurement team you'll play a pivotal role in not only contributing to your own category but also building and protecting Diageo's reputation across our supply base. This involves delivering outstanding end-to-end value across our supply chain through our commercial leadership, offering innovative supplier solutions, and driving our sustainability agenda across our partners and suppliers.

  You will be responsible for:

  Create the Category Strategy for Talent, Influencer, Partnerships and Sponsorships, ensuring that plans consider market insights, deliver excellence benefits and drives value in line with targets.Leading sourcing activities, cost modelling, contract management, supplier relationship management, supplier innovation and supplier development activity using best in class processes and ways of working.Build credible sustainable relationships with agencies and partners to drive opportunity identification in line with business goals.Establish improved ways of working, tools, data and insights to embed a cost consciousness culture that supports the optimization of the Diageo A&P.Driving category excellence through execution of improve projects in line with the categories strategic objectives.Delivery of our Society 2030 ambition.Partnering with team members across strategic business areas; Customer Operation, Innovation, Finance, Legal and Supply, ensuring full engagement to improve commercial advantage, minimize risk and assuring quality of delivery and performance.

  To be successful in this role you will need:

  We are looking for a dynamic individual with the ability to thrive in an agile and fast-paced environment while finding clarity in ambiguous situations by stimulating alternative thinking. We want you to show high levels of energy and commitment and a relentlessness in the pursuit of goals.

  Experience in a Procurement, finance, Marketing or other relevant role is required as we would expect you to hit the ground running in this role.You will have strong analytical skills, including forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value. Have commercial skill, understanding of the business and judgment.You can demonstrate consistent performance and examples of drivig strategy, but also seeing it through to implementation. You need to bring industry knowledge and research to drive data led improvements and as such good knowledge and understanding of brand partnership landscape would be necessary.Strong communication skills are a key strength, and you have the ability to articulate across all levels of the organization.Experience in high-spend negotiations in commercial / marketing context is necessary good knowledge and understanding of brand partnership landscape would be advantageous but not essential.
