JOB SUMMARY
Alone, and in conjunction with volunteers on duty, provides efficient and courteous customer service to all patrons of the shop. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
WORK PERFORMED
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Wait on customers and operate cash register.
Assist in maintaining shop in an orderly fashion.
Weekly processing of delivery and return of magazines and books.
Replenish inventory of candy, snacks, balloons and beverages as needed.
Other duties as necessary or instructed.
6 Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
7 Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
8 Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
9 Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
10 Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
11 Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Standing/walking for up to eight hours per day. Occasional bending, stooping and squatting. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision.
POTENTIAL ON THE JOB RISKS
Cuts and punctures as a result of unpacking merchandise-requires use of caution and care to prevent accidents.
MOST COMPLEX DUTY
Making sure magazine and book inventory is correct.
SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO)
Supervised by the Business Coordinator of the Gift Shops.
QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM)
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Sales experience required. Cash register operation experience preferred.
