This position is part of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing organization (GMNP) within Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS). The GMNP team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express' revenue: Merchant Discount Revenue. The team works closely with multiple business partners to determine the ideal pricing structure to encourage merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. Ultimately, driving merchant revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, more flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions.
The Pricing Analytics team is the analytical arm of GMNP and will be responsible for providing analytical support for strategic merchant pricing initiatives. This team is instrumental in ensuring the success of GMNS by supporting strategies and analysis that drive blue box business growth objectives. This position will work alongside senior leaders in GMNS in a fast-paced environment and assist in high profile projects with significant impact to the U.S. merchant business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the merchant business, as well as exposure to, and insight from, senior leaders across the Blue Box. The Senior Manager should be a dynamic individual who can work closely with senior leaders and has the right ambition to drive change.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and implement industry-wide pricing strategies based on business and financial objectives, market and competitive analyses, and pricing capabilitiesCreate robust financial models for pricing scenario analysisRun scenarios, validate and pressure test assumptionsAssess merchant impacts of pricing proposalsDevelop forecasts to inform financial planningAssess both market level and merchant level impacts of pricing proposalsSupport GMNP with additional ad-hoc data analytical capabilitiesCollaborate with business partners and other key Blue Box constituents to ensure alignment on strategiesThe role will require strong partnership across the Blue Box
Qualifications:
2+ years of analytics experience; previous Pricing or Finance experience is requiredExperience with modeling is required; SQL data querying is requiredSuccess in quantitative data analysis methods and data miningExceptional aptitude for analytics; demonstrated ability to develop sophisticated financial models and draw value-added insights from large amounts of financial dataStrong strategic thinker with the ability to translate trends and analysis into actionable recommendationsStrong customer relationship skills and proven track record of managing internal relationships/stakeholdersAbility to build relationships and influence at all levels, both internally and externallyResults driven with the ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, draw linkages, and balance multiple prioritiesAbility to collaborate and work as a true member of a teamComfort with ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information at times, taking measured risks - flexibility to pivot strategy and process according to business needsStrong executive presence and collaborative/interpersonal skillsBachelor's Degree required
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
