Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a leader to manage a team of highly qualified, diverse individuals in the Remote Sensing Programs (RSP) Hardware Organization within PGSD in Linthicum, MD. The Hardware Organization is a rapidly growing organization with over 240 members and 4 departments including Sub-System Leadership (SSL), Electrical Design & Digital Technology (EDDT), Mechanical Technology (MET), and Product Team Leadership (PTL).
The position is a Design Section Manager within the EDDT Department focused mainly on firmware design, digital subsystem architecture, Integration, and Test. The position is approximately 20% functional organization management with 10-15 direct reports and 80% direct contract work (program related work).

Section Strategy responsibilities include: Understanding internal and external customer needs and roadmapsBuilding development plans for digital products in concert with senior technical staffShaping program execution plans to be complementary with product line architecture initiativesChampioning department initiatives and NCTA/ITA Team Leadership responsibilities include: Functional oversight of a section of engineers working multiple programs, IRAD initiatives, and new business capture opportunitiesStaffing and workload forecastingRecruiting, hiring, and onboarding new and experienced employeesEmployee inclusion, engagement, and mentoringPerformance management and career developmentIdentification of skills required to execute on programs and needed employee training. Technical Performance responsibilities include: Support and adherence to engineering processesOversight of technical quality for various development, integration, or production programsSupport for new business development and proposals.Development and advancement of the technology, including supporting organization initiatives around streamlining the design and test process by determining more efficient methodologies.The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
The candidate will work closely with directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business. 10% travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) disciplineMinimum of 9 years of professional relevant experience (7 years with MS; 4 years with Ph.D.)Must be experienced in all aspects of the firmware/FPGA design process, from requirements analysis through verification testing with the ability to work effectively in a team environment5 years of project management/Integrated Product Team Leadership (IPTL)/functional management of firmware/FPGA design teamsHigh proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoringMust have the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance levelUS Citizenship is a prerequisite Preferred Qualifications: Active TS/SCI clearanceExperience with Earned Value ManagementSalary Range: $172,500 - $258,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
