Opportunity: As a production helper you will be responsible for all activities associated with the setup and operation of the machine, including configuration, operation and productivity, cleaning, and recommendation of improvements in operations. Performs set up of dies. Run a good quality product to customer specifications.

Determining the speed of the machine and knowing the estimated production at all times, exceeding the minimum production standards.
Verifying and understanding all detection systems, electronic meters and sensors.
Making adjustments to the machine to maintain safety, quality and production standards.
Leading and promoting teamwork to minimize machine downtime.
Checking, monitoring, and minimizing waste and quality defects throughout the manufacturing process.
Properly operating the machine so that it works efficiently and produces quality products.
Optimizing the use of production equipment by operating the machinery at the available capacity and speed.
Helping in the training of other assistants.
Fully operating the machine when required.
Continuously learning to manufacture and produce a variety of styles of boxes.
Completing the necessary manufacturing and production reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintaining WestRock’s hierarchy of priorities of safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
Completing and submitting maintenance work orders to supervision for necessary machine repairs and/or upgrades.
Taking a proactive approach to the maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep of assigned equipment.
Complying with the production schedule and making recommendations to optimize the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service objectives. In addition, reporting any unusual programming problems to the supervisor.
Complying with all company policies and procedures while upholding WestRock’s values of integrity, respect, responsibility, and excellence.
Performing additional tasks that management may assign.
Maintaining and improving safety as our number one priority.
Offering technical expertise with the safe operation of manufacturing equipment.

What you need to succeed:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous work experience in the corrugated industry is preferable.
Ability to read a tape measure quickly and accurately.
Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals, or assembly manuals in Spanish and in English preferably.
Ability to compose or modify text to communicate basic information with little need for analysis as might be required in the preparation of simple correspondence or standard reports.
Ability to perform mathematics used to set up and operate machines and equipment.
Ability to communicate, to explain or interpret well-defined business issues or procedures, following established patterns.
Physical ability with good visual and auditory health, to be able to remain seated for several consecutive hours, stand, turn your body, go up and down steps, drive on uneven grounds, lift objects of approximately 25-50 pounds, bending over, working in a hot environment or in the sun, among others.
Ability to always use personal protective equipment.
Ability to work in a position classified as safety sensitive.
Ability to work in teams and individually.
Be available to work any shift and overtime, including weekends and holidays if needed.
