Position: Fisheries Technician Rotary Screw Traps
Location: Salmon, Idaho
Dates Needed: April November, 2024 (start and end dates flexible)
Salary: \$16.56/hr plus competitive benefits

Job Responsibilities:
Incumbent will serve as the screw trap technician in IDFGs LemhiEffectiveness Monitoring Program in Salmon, Idaho. This project monitorsfishery response to restoration efforts in the Lemhi River basin tounderstand the effectiveness of various habitat actions, and help guidefuture restoration efforts through an adaptive management process.
Primary duties include: Operating and maintaining three rotary screwtraps, PIT-tagging juvenile salmonids (including ESA- listed fish),collecting biological data (weights, lengths, DNA, scales, etc.),andassisting with data management (recording, organizing, and errorchecking in multiple databases).Other specific duties of this positionmay include, but are not limited to, collecting physical (discharge,temperature, sediment) data used to prioritize projects, documentingproject construction activities using video and still cameras, assistingin developing informational and outreach videos, assisting inrevegetating disturbed areas (seeding, willow planting, watering), andmaintaining field equipment. Additional duties may include: operatingBull Trout weirs, redd count surveys, electrofishing, snorkeling, andassisting with regional fisheries management projects.

Note: This is an 8 month (benefited) position not to exceed 1385hours. Housing is NOT provided.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a BS degree in fisheries (or related field), orequivalent in job experience and training. Applicants must be detailoriented and have the ability to work alone with minimal supervision.Applicants must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, pack up to 40 poundsfor several miles, and walk up to eight miles a day along stream banksand trails. Preference will be given to individuals proficient atoperating screw traps, PIT tagging, species identification, and handlingjuvenile salmonids. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age andpossess a valid drivers license.
Note: Must accommodate a flexible schedule (holidays, weekends,nights), be willing to work for 10 consecutive days, willing to stay intravel trailers and/or camp in semi-remote areas, and work in adverseweather conditions.
