About Finance Manager, FP&A

  Description

The right financial and business decisions have made Amazon what it is today. As a Finance Manager, you’ll help us optimise our finances so that we can enhance our customer experience even more and navigate the fast-changing business environment. This role is an opportunity to act as the key finance leader for a strategic programme and get really involved with shaping our business. You’ll lead others and use insights to show senior stakeholders ways that we can move forward with our business ambitions.

  Key job responsibilities

Build financial models to drive business decisions and make judgement calls on challenges using your understanding of Amazon’s cost structure

Lead projects by overseeing timelines, priorities, auditing quality and resolving issues

Generate insights from financial data, identify opportunities for greater efficiency, and communicate findings with the leadership team to drive business actions

Own the financial and operational plan and financial reporting, create scalable processes and monitor teams for accuracy

Onboard, develop and mentor team members in areas of financial reporting for accuracy, create best practice materials and promote knowledge sharing

  A day in the life

Our Finance Managers at this level take a hands-on role to boost our business performance and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with partners in different areas of our business to provide insights on improvements in our operational performance. That will involve deep diving into data, managing our planning processes, and giving team members guidance on more ambiguous areas of our cost structures. You’ll also help other teams across the EU to gain access to vital insights and to collaborate.

You’ll manage or mentor people and work closely with partners to help inform and guide their key decisions. This role is predominantly based in one of our corporate offices but may also be based in one of our sites with opportunities to work remotely on occasion.

  About the team

Customer Fulfilment, or CF, is where it all started for Amazon. CF has scaled up from a humble team of booksellers to a sophisticated global team which handles more than 1.5 million orders every day. The team is the foundation of our business and its efforts have helped us diversify across new regions and services. With the help of emerging technology, we’re always looking for ways to offer a bigger, better product range – delivered quickly and affordably.

The CF team are the first people in the chain that helps customers get products at the speed we’re known for. Our fulfilment centres are sometimes referred to as the ‘First Mile’ because it’s where most Amazon packages start their journey. We help to manage dynamic inventory and facilitate speedy deliveries round the clock.

In the Network Planning finance team, we work with stakeholders in supply chain, transportation and fulfilment centres to help the business achieve its goals. Your responsibilities could include anything from capturing and analysing data around KPIs, building investment models, planning resources for busy periods, driving savings projects or making data-backed business decisions around controllership and network design.

Within the team, we help to shape the strategies that ensure we operate in a way that’s commercially rewarding and fiscally responsible. We also work on projects, such as costing expansion plans and new site planning.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Luxembourg, LUX

  Basic Qualifications

A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or another relevant field

Relevant experience in a finance role including partnering with a variety of stakeholders across the business

  Relevant experience in managing people

Relevant experience working with Excel and large-scale data mining and reporting tools such as Python, SQL or Tableau

  Relevant experience in financial modelling

  Preferred Qualifications

Advanced or master’s degree in finance, economics or mathematics, such as a CA, CMA, CWA or MBA

Experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment

Experience working in large teams or at a national/multinational organisation

Experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influence decisions
