Summary:
This position is a seasoned professional in information technology providing advanced proficiency and expertise in a specific suite(s) of clinical application(s). This position provides leadership in the development, maintenance, and optimization of application(s) and related information technologies. Has in-depth knowledge of one or more clinical, business, or technical areas that enhance the organization's understanding of processes and applications. The professional is responsible for the establishment, development, and promotion of standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components. Additionally, the professional is responsible for mentoring and developing less experienced staff. In this position, the professional will develop clinical and business solutions by investigating processes to understand data and communications flow with individual tasks and transactions within Cook Children's Integrated Delivery System. Advocates for user needs and coordinates support requests within Information Services (IS) department. Acts as liaison among IS and clinical end users, patient care departments, vendors, and other technical experts. Supports efforts which ensure safe patient care services by developing and delivering clinically and technically sound solutions for customer technology needs. Recommends process change as determined from risk and failure points in the processes evaluated, with necessary modifications to workflows and/or current procedures to maximize the advantages of existing systems. Expected activities include but are not limited to: • serves as an authority when responding to inquires in their area(s) of expertise. • assists IS leadership in the mentoring, education, and tutelage of other IS staff. • provides direction to other analysts as required to ensure successful completion of tasks. • monitors the effectiveness of applications and related information technologies in meeting end user requirements. • Work with vendors and other IS personnel to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction with the applications and information technologies deployed within their area(s) of expertise. • Prepare statistical summaries and develop reports • participation in application upgrades. • resolution of problems and issues associated with installed applications and related information technologies. • diagnosis of failures encountered in application software and related technologies. • analyze issues and identify trends. • quality control of all application implementations/enhancements prior to release to customers. • remains knowledgeable of vendor and industry developments/plans in area(s) of responsibility, communication, and documentation of all relevant items and activities. • serves as a Project Manager for projects of limited duration and complexity. • identifies barriers to project success and communicates effectively about those barriers to appropriate team members
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or Sciences is required.At least 8 years of healthcare industry experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.At least 8 years' experience with clinical software and/or hardware technology or databases, including designing, configuring, training, or implementing clinical systems applications.Epic Research, Ambulatory or ClinDoc certification highly preferred.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification:
EPIC Certification required is required within 6 months from employment, including 2 test retakes.
