About the role
The Employee Relations Manager is key to the implementation of the global employee relations strategy and in providing ER support to our Great Britain region and our global functions. Key duties will include:
Design, implementation and maintenance of innovative and market leading employee relations policies and practices to support a performance culture where we celebrate life everyday, everywhereProviding advisory support to HR Business Partners and managers in the GB market in high risk and/or complex ER activity in order to achieve informed and “risk aware” decisionsBuilding capability and confidence across the global HR community in the management of high risk and/or complex ER matters through training and upskillingProviding consultative support to market ER specialists to achieve global consistency in application of global policiesTriage of the people-related “Speak Up” cases to ensure that they are being assigned for investigation appropriatelySupporting the quality control process to ensure that the appropriate standard is being maintained in investigations and treatment of breaches of our Dignity at Work PolicyAdvising on consequence management of investigation outcomes, in line with Diageo’s Breach Management StandardUndertaking investigative activity where specialist expertise is requiredAnalysing, processing and utilising “Speak Up” data to empower proactive intervention with businesses or markets where there may be opportunities to improve culture, and to support the implementation of a “speak up” culture through “listening up”Coordination of and management of the relationship with the Diageo European ForumIdentification and monitoring of global employment trends and risksER/HR project work as needed
About You
This role is critical to ensuring that we have a culture and values that foster a positive employee relations environment globally and within our Great Britain region. We are looking for a person who understands the impact that extraordinarily implemented employee relations can have in an organisation, particularly in facilitating high employee satisfaction. To support this, you will have had responsibility for delivering an employee relations agenda, including strategy implementation and policy development, change management initiatives, case management, ER capability development and employee consultation. You will be expected to demonstrate genuine care for our people, a commitment to helping build an innovative and best in class employee relations function and being a role model of integrity, through dignity, fairness and respect.
Ideal Experience/Capabilities
In depth knowledge and experience of applying UK employment law and practicesAbility to spot issues and handle risk in a pragmatic and commercially sensitive mannerStrategic approach to problem solving and causing positive impactExtensive experience delivering effective employee relations and employment strategy, solutions and adviceAbility to draft employment policy and procedure, including policies with global applicationDemonstrated experience of leading changeExcellent relationship management and communication skills with an ability to influence and form trusted relationships with senior leaders, managers and employees at all levels, and employee representativesExperience of managing and undertaking complex investigationsThematic reporting from complex dataAbility to thrive in an exciting, ambiguous and fast-paced environment with multiple prioritiesWillingness and experience of leading, challenging assumptions and resolving complex matters, of being open to possibilities, different ways of working and taking risk, always with integrity and in partnership with partnersSound judgment with the ability to articulate, explain and justify rationale for decision making, in writing and orally, whilst being open to challenge and competing views.
