The Role
As a Director Software Engineering you will work alongside and advise a team of data engineers in developing solutions to support the needs of several applications used by Fidelity's Asset Management business. You have a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. In an agile structure you will collaborate with other teams and guide, influence the strategic decisions, and help build solutions to scale our business. You will work closely with the product team, architects and technical teams across global locations and assist in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well documented applications that enable us to achieve faster time to market. You will help in encouraging innovation through research and conduct studies of alternatives, analyze, and recommend changes in project developmental policies, implement, and adopt Data Engineering Excellence Practices. You will help to drive conformance to the Enterprise data strategy and bring industry thought leadership to the team. You value how we work and constantly seek to improve our engineering efficiency!
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in data/software engineering, data/software architecture, and database/full-stack development in the investment domainBS degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experienceEmbodies sound engineering principles and quality practices in data/software engineering, and passionate about delivering high quality code and the craft of software engineering.Strong leader, who is self-motivated, catalyst for change, and drives continuous improvement with conviction.Highly curious and motivated quick learner; has proven ability to implement new/emerging trends and technologies with passion.Hands on technical experience in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica/Snaplogic, and AWS/EKS services such as EC2/Lambda/S3/ALBExperience in developing front-end and middle-tier solutions using Angular, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIsExposure to test automation tools such as Cypress and Karate; unit testing tools such as Jest, JaCoCo, and Junit; Static scanning tools such as SonarKnowledgeable in fundamental design principles for building scalable applications with a strong understanding of object-orientated programming.Experience in the automation of CI/CD pipelines with test suites and quality gatesDevelopment experience in Python, Snowflake, Airflow, and other data streaming platforms is a plus.Experience with a structured application development methodology, using any industry standard Software Development Lifecycle, in particular Agile MethodologiesHas strong knowledge in building resilient and secure applications adhering to enterprise disaster recovery and cyber security standards.Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to collaborate with cross functional teams in creating effective solutions.Articulative with excellent written and oral communication skills.

The Director Software Engineering will be part of a global data/software development team that focuses on building scalable and optimized business intelligence reporting to satisfy Strategic Advisers business needs. This team has a deep understanding of the Strategic Advisors' data needs, their products, and applications
