JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Software Engineering devises an effective strategy for executing and delivering on IT business initiatives. The person in this position acts as a liaison and collaborates with the business and functional stakeholders to identify and deliver strategic enablement solutions. The Director, Software Engineering requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.
Our Department of Defense Contract requires U.S. citizenship for this position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director, Software Engineering leads solution strategy and execution for clinical areas of Humana Military. Oversees the engineering team who develops and deploys solutions. The responsibilities include technology strategy, engineering, solution development and delivery, testing and production management. In addition, the leader is responsible for end-to-end accountability for the business areas IT ecosystem, including third-party software and services. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance. Provides input into functions strategy.

Strategy, Planning, Analysis and Design
Provide leadership and direction for multiple engineering teams responsible for planning, analysis and design of software solutions aligned to one or more value streamsTake a leading role in collaboration on the development of strategy, roadmaps, and appropriate technology choices staying up to date on industry trends, tools, and technologies keeping innovation at the forefrontDevise technical solutions aligned to our business strategy providing direction and support to the engineering and operational teams that must deliver and support these solutionsUnderstand, analyze and map current business processesPartner with operational leaders to modify current business processes to improve their efficiency and accuracyPartner with business owners and operational subject matter experts to define new business processes to meet strategic, operational or government requirements

Development, Integration, Testing and Implementation
Provide leadership and direction for multiple engineering teams responsible for software integration, development, testing, deployment and maintenance supporting one or more value streamsBe a champion for and a servant leader to multiple scrum teams with a focus on the delivery of business value, risk mitigation, cost optimization, and return on investmentBe a leading partner with architecture, database and other software engineering leaders to ensure teams produce appropriate solutions to business challenges that meet both functional and non-functional requirementsProvide team leaders and teams with appropriate guidance related to development, testing and change control guidelines and ensure they follow it

Required Qualifications
More than eight years of progressive leadership experience within a technology area in a large segment /business3+ years of large scale technology solution delivery experience 15+ years technology experience Five or more years of management experienceExperience leading in agile delivery modelBachelor's degree, technical area preferred or technical training equivalent (Master's Degree desired)Broad understanding of Information Technology solutions including technologies, platforms, applications and capabilitiesMust be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiencesDeep expertise and demonstrated experience in enterprise scale enterprise data platforms, reporting and analytics solutionsExperience with cloud services and platform Experience in managing change by leading and energizing others through periods of transformation, ambiguity, and complexityExperience leading technology services in a highly regulated business Proven ability to operate effectively and independently with minimal guidance in a highly fluid and ambiguous environmentExcellent communication, story-telling and influencing skillsExperience with collaborating at executive leadership levelExperience with Visio, Microsoft Office or similar toolsEstablished ability to successfully work with cross-functional team and work well with other architects/leaders/teams Healthcare related experienceProven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment; be nimble and adaptable, handle ambiguity

WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office.
