The Director of Corporate Communications will lead our External Communications function and is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans that promote and protect Delta Dental's brand and reputation across multiple audiences. This person will drive all aspects of crisis and reactive corporate communications, Foundation Communications, Public and Government Affairs and Provider Relations. This director will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders and teams to create and execute strategies through and with a team to effectively communicate with various stakeholders and deliver on business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for fostering relationships with senior leaders to develop and implement integrated strategic communications plans with programs and initiatives tied directly to our business priorities, with an emphasis on Foundation, Government and Public Affairs and Provider Relations.Develops and executes through and with a team crisis communication strategies that protect and defend the company's reputation through active engagement with the media.Builds strong relationships to secure positive media coverage and thought leadership opportunities.Strategically identifies, secures and executes external speaking and thought leadership opportunities for our CEO and Executive Leadership Team.Oversees small but experienced communications team and provides leadership, feedback, coaching and mentoring.Leads the team, ensuring objectives are met within stated performance standards, and deliverables and projects are on time, within budget, and according to the defined scope, with the highest degree of quality and accuracy.Contributes to the development of the annual budget, conducting cost/benefit analysis of the various engagement and communications initiatives against stated corporate objectives; overseeing the related budget and managing expenses for team.Supports the CEO and Extended Leadership Team with related special projects and with other duties that may be assigned from time to time.Oversees the contracting, relationship, and assessment of multiple external agencies.Develops metrics and processes that measure communications impact and reinforce accountability.
Qualifications:
12+ years of related experience.Bachelor's degree.3+ years of management experience.Delta Dental and/or health insurance communications experience is a plus.Excellent writing and verbal communications skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills.Creative self-starter with a proven track record for successfully developing, building, and launching Communications programs that deliver on business objectives.Strong planning, organizational, problem solving skills; focused on delivering for clients.Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, representing communications team collaboratively across a variety of key internal stakeholders.Works well in a fast-paced environment while delivering timely, high quality work.Comfortable with thinking ahead, taking ownership and driving the team forward on a daily basis.Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills, and leads by influence and example.Creative, curious, positive, and high-energy individual with an ability to execute.High-level of professional integrity and confidentiality.Passionate about working for a purpose-driven health care company is a plus.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $133,300 - $260,000
