DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as a lead operational attorney for DaVita's Integrated Kidney Care(DaVita IKC) division.Working directly with the business leads to provideadvice and counsel on a wide variety of transactional, operational,commercial, and healthcare regulatory issues arising in day-to-day operationsServe as lead attorney in structuring, negotiating, and providing legaloversight for business transactions for key divisions of the businessDraft, review, analyze and negotiate contracts, agreements, memorandaand other legal documents to which the company intends to become a party,including, but not limited to,Participating Provider Agreements,Physician Consulting Agreements, Professional Services Agreements, and similarAssist and collaborate with other DaVita attorneys, compliance teammates,and business leaders in identifying and resolving legal and regulatory mattersarising from the DaVita IKC businessDevelop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the Company'sbusiness, its people, markets, facilities, customers and competitorsin order to identify trends and formulate appropriate legal advice,structures, and strategiesEstablish a rapport and working relationship with business leaders, fromVice Presidents to Managers, in order to encourage and continue theproactive use of in-house legal counselPerform special assignments as neededSupport and collaborate with other areas of the JLD and compliance, as neededAssist in process improvement and establishment of best demonstrated practicesfor all aspects of legal operations
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:J.D. degree and a minimum of ten years of legal experience in a mix ofoperations, corporate law and health care law; state bar passage and goodstandingCandidates must possess in-house and/or law firm experience representingbusiness clientsGeneral understanding of relevant health care regulatory legal issues(i.e., Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, HIPAA, and Antitrust implications)Understanding of Medicare certification, CMS regulations and guidance,commercial payors, a d state healthcare licensing matters is a plusStrong communication skills, both written and oral
