Department Overview The Marketing and Communications team tells the story of Children's Minnesota - so that our community understands what we can do for them. With a diverse team of experts in PR, digital, social, brand management and creative, we develop communications that raise awareness of our highly specialized care, grow affinity for our kid-focused approach to medicine, and keep our audiences (families, physician partners, community groups) engaged in the journey toward better health for all children. Position Summary The Digital Front End is responsible for supporting the successful development, management and execution of digital initiatives and processes. Through collaboration with architects and software engineers inside and outside the department, you will build a culture that is based on a foundation of customer comes first. License/Certification/Registration required? No Education: * Bachelor's degree in software engineering, design, or related area Experience: * 5+ years of CMS development, theming and module website architecture * Accredited front-end boot camp or equivalent industry experience a plus Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * WordPress theme architecture, and experience with one or more high quality boilerplate themes (Roots, Underscores, etc.) * Experience with common WP site maintenance and optimization tasks such as common plugins, caching mechanisms, WP "hooks", WP cron processes, theme organization and best practices * Experience with at least one or two other CMS tools * Modern front-end build processes and toolchains (gulp / grunt / webpack, bower), and knowledge of how these tools integrate with front-end packages and build tooling * Basic source-control experience, a comfort level with checking code in and out of source control, basic merging and branching operations * Experience with at least one CSS extension language, preferably SASS * Javascript experience including "vanilla" JS, legacy frameworks (jQuery / Mootools), experience with JSON-based data schemas, some experience with a modern framework (ReactJS, Angular, VueJS, etc) preferred * Experience with at least one back-end language such as PHP, basic MySQL experience * Experience with web-based API tools or RESTful services * Knowledge of basic authentication and other best practices, and how to utilize with Javascript or a JS framework * Experience with common testing and debugging tools - browser console, automated testing, device testing, build tooling * Strong grasp of the concepts of responsive design, experience with common frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation, Skeleton, etc.) * The ability to design and test for multiple devices and screen sizes and the common breakpoints * Experience slicing designs and elements from Photoshop, and optimizing image sources for high-DPI screens * Understanding of basic web security concepts such as authentication, common exploits and security issues, input sanitiz tion and validation * Google Tag Manager proficiency * Comfortable working in a Windows environment * Must be able to collaborate on projects with other departments * The ability to quote dev time accurately and meet deadlines * Strong desire to learn new systems and develop processes * Positive, team-oriented attitude * Strong work ethic * Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects at one time * Possess an understanding of the digital world as it relates to - Principles of digital customer experience - Management of digital assets, including taxonomy, meta data * Autonomous, works well under little supervision, takes initiative, and follows through Physical Demands Please click here to view the Physical Demands All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
