The Boeing Company is actively seeking a Design Engineering Manager at the Mesa, AZ site.
This First Line Leader will be assigned a team of multi-skilled engineers to work design packages for the Attack helicopter portfolio. The team includes design engineers, producibility manufacturing engineers, and tooling engineers.
This team is responsible for the structural design of the Apache AH-64 and Little Bird AH-6 Helicopters. Additionally, the manager will perform functional duties including hiring, overhead budget management, employee recognition programs, performance management, Technical Lead Engineer utilization plans, and design practice development and implementation.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure Safe Products & People - Create and maintain policies and processes that ensure safety in designs and rework instructions. Ensure that adequate oversight of designs is being performed. Engage with the team to ensure that all decisions are made with consideration of safety of product and people.
Support Production & the Field - Prioritize work to ensure that production and field issues are addressed in an expedient manner. Weigh courses of action to best serve the production and field environment.
Innovate for our Future - Inspire innovation on the team. Seek out and support initiatives that provide avenues for innovative work to be performed by engineering. Provide business cases to capture new work. Provide engineers the space and opportunity to creatively engage in innovative design solutions.
Keep Commitments - Manage the workload to ensure that work is being done within budget and timeframe expectations. Encourage the team to proactively bid work that can be accomplished with given resources. Find solutions when issues arise with meeting budget or schedule targets. Set quality targets and lead the team to achieve high quality work.
Strengthen the Team - Reward, recognize, and encourage employees. Support the team by sponsoring TLE, Tech Fellowship, and mentoring programs. Ensure that training needs are identified and fulfilled. Proactively implement knowledge transfer programs.
Communicate - Provide accurate, timely, and audience-appropriate communication.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Mesa, AZ site.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.
BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar Engineering degree.
5+ years of experience in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools.
3+ years' experience in Configuration Management of data and associated release systems (eg. Teamcenter or Enovia).
1+ years of experience with managing suppliers.
1+ years of experience with using Excel to perform data analysis.
Technical project/program management experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Highly preferred: Current active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Experience in design of primary and secondary structure.
Experience in design of dynamic systems.
Experience with Manufacturing techniques and planning.
Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
Experience with aircraft part suppliers
Experience with advanced data analytic tools (eg. Tableau).
Experience with digital communication tools (eg. Confluence).

Summary pay range: $129,200 - $174,800
