Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, model and other risks.
Background of the Position
The Risk Chief Operating Office comprises several global teams that partner across risk areas to deliver strategic and regulatory-driven initiatives. The role will reside within Firm Risk Management's Central Climate Risk Team which leads strategic development of climate risk capabilities across risk management functions.
The Climate Risk Stress Testing Lead will help drive FRM's strategy for Climate Risk Scenario Analysis, focusing on working across risk functions to enhance stress testing capabilities to assess the potential impact of climate risk across the Firm's portfolios. Working in close partnership with Risk Analytics and the broader FRM organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, delivery and coordination of Climate Risk Scenario Analysis program.
Primary Responsibilities
> Lead climate risk scenario analysis in developing and maintaining a suite of scenarios for transition and physical risk analyses
> Partner with scenario design and modeling teams on methodology development and execution
> Design climate risk stress testing dashboards and lead production and reporting of climate risk scenarios
> Collaborate with risk stripes to determine KRIs, metrics and/or thresholds for effective climate risk management
> Work with stakeholders to continue to enhance climate risk identification processes
> Contribute to external disclosure requirements pertaining to scenario analysis processes and output
> Contribute to strategic priorities on enhancing climate data and infrastructure capabilities #LI-JB3
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
> Bachelor's degree required
> 8 years or more work experience in financial services or related industry
> Experience of Climate stress testing or work on the development of climate forecasting capabilities would be advantageous or
> Credit / Market Risk stress testing experience within a financial services setting
> Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively
> Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into 'user friendly' language
> Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise across diverse stakeholder groups including senior management and large firm networks
> Attention to detail and the ability to work thoughtfully and independently and manage multiple projects
> Self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to 'roll up sleeves'
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $160,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
