Job Description
Morgan Stanley has been at the forefront of the AI journey with applications such as Genome that use AI to provide better, personalized advice to our clients. Generative AI provides further unique opportunities to provide new capabilities to the firm's internal users as well as our clients. This role is for a senior engineer/ architect who will help build a firmwide AI Development Platform and drive adoption of AI capabilities throughout the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of AI and ML and hands on experience implementing solutions using Generative AI and preferably other ML techniques such as supervised learning. The candidate will have a strong passion for using AI to increase productivity as well as help generate new ideas for product improvements.
This role requires a strong combination of both development and infrastructure knowledge and experience. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate technical leadership with a track record of developing and driving innovative solutions.
Primary responsibilities
Partner with business application teams to drive Generative AI use cases, execute pilots and help take pilot deployments to secure, resilient production deployments
Have a platform mindset and build common, reusable solutions to scale Generative AI use cases using pre-trained models as well as fine tuned models
Contribute to major design decisions and product selection for building Generative AI solutions
Develop tooling and self-service capabilities for deploying AI solutions. Collaborate with developers to enhance the developer experience when building and deploying AI applications
Integrate with capabilities such as large scale vector stores for embeddings
Author best practices on the Generative AI ecosystem, when to use which tools, available models such as GPT, Llama, Hugging Face etc. and libraries such as Langchain
Understanding of ML Ops and LLM Ops challenges and tools available in this space to implement ML Ops (both 3rd party Vendor as well as Open Source)
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
Experience working with Generative AI development, embeddings, fine tuning of Generative AI models
Experience building applications using AI development services on prominent cloud platforms such as Azure Cognitive Services, AWS Sagemaker, Google Vertex AI
Strong understanding of how deep learning works, experience working with Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
Strong hands on Application Development background in atleast one prominent programming language, preferably Python
Broad understanding of data engineering (SQL, NoSQL, Big Data), data governance, data privacy and security
Demonstrated experience in DevOps, understanding of CI/ CD.
Understanding of ModelOps/ ML Ops/ LLM Ops
Ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences
Strong desire and ability to influence development teams and help them adopt AI
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global organization and across time zones
Desired Skills
Understanding of Responsible AI, AI Ethics
Understanding of Information Security, Secure coding practices
Experience working with cloud providers, preferably Azure, but also AWS, GCP
Experience working in a large regulated industry such as Financial Services, Insurance etc.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent job experience
10+ years of experience in software development
5+ years of experience architecting distributed systems
2+ years of experience building AI applications, preferably Generative AI and LLM based apps
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 180,000 and 260,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
