Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, mission-aligned Culinary Specialist for our High School After-School program.
The Culinary Specialist will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
We are seeking a part-time Culinary Specialist. The ideal candidate will be an experienced culinary art professional, with a background in teaching and providing instruction in a school-based setting. This position requires an individual who takes initiative, is self-driven, and is passionate about educating our youth.

High School Diploma required
Who You Are
A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or an equivalent experience/certification 2 years experience working in catering and/or food services; 1 year of management level experience in desired NYS Department of Health certification is a plus Knowledge of kitchen safety is a must Must have strong classroom management skills Experience working with youth and adolescent population A commitment to teaching and providing continuity on a part time basis Ability to connect with teens and offer motivation and encourage self-esteem in youth Must have strong leadership and organizational skills Must be able to work well within a team unit Ability to effectively engage students Must be available to work afterschool and evening hours
What You Will Do
Develop, implement, and execute culinary arts curriculum Teach weekly cooking program sessions Supervise and guide program participants Coordinate onsite showcase during the holidays and special events in collaboration with other specialists Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect and dignity Connect students to the culinary industry by facilitating activities and/or forums that will provide students with the knowledge of different culinary related careers and education Assist students with preparations of quarterly showcases and special events Communicate and work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Collaborate with other instructors on curriculum ideas and implementation Act as a positive role model for students Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
Must available Monday through Friday 4pm-8pm
