About Consultant / Senior Ecologist

  Redefine your personal best.

We are looking for a Consultant / Senior ecologist to join our team in Northern England and work on a variety of projects across different sectors. You will work closely with our Principal Ecologist, who is the lead ecologist for the North of the UK and assist them in building a team of talented and passionate professionals who share our vision of innovation, scientific research and a forward-thinking approach to biodiversity.

You will be a key player in advancing our UK presence and supporting our reputation for excellence in the field of ecology by delivering high-quality work underpinned by best practices

As a Consultant / Senior Ecologist, you will collaborate with teams from different disciplines, such as planning, engineering, and design, backed by an Ecology Team that will support you. You will support our existing partnerships with various water utilities, as well as pursuing new opportunities and aiding our lead ecologist in expanding our client base.

You will be responsible for managing complex ecological issues within a project context, such as conducting ecological surveys and assessments, designing and implementing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures, and applying for and obtaining protected species licences. You will also mentor junior staff and help them develop their ecological skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to work with autonomy and grow professionally, as well as participate in training and networking events.

  About You

We're searching for a passionate and qualified Ecologist to join our dynamic team. If you hold a degree in ecology or a closely related field, and possess 2-5 years of experience navigating the intricacies of ecological consultancy, then we are keen to speak with you!

Your deep understanding of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy will be invaluable as you conduct high-quality ecological surveys, assessments, and reports. More than just technical expertise, we seek someone who thrives in managing projects, budgets, and client relationships with skill and dedication.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills are essential as you collaborate with fellow ecologists and guide projects towards successful completion. Your passion for the natural world will be fueled by the opportunity to explore diverse landscapes and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts. You'll also need a full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel.
