The Conservation Agronomist will apply their skills to advance sustainable agriculture in the Key Cooperative trade territory. The Conservation Agronomist will serve as the leader in the area to educate and guide both the farmers and agronomists of Key Cooperative about current sustainable agricultural practices and programs.

This role is for you if you have:
· Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Certified Crop Advisor
· Ability to work longer hours during peak seasons.
· An outstanding work ethic with ability to pay attention to the details
· Ability to always project a positive attitude to customers and employees while exhibiting good customer relations skills.
What you will be doing:
Provide technical assistance to farmers transitioning to sustainable agricultural practices (E.g., cover crops, reduced tillage, precision nutrient management, and other sustainable farming practices) by providing technical and agronomic expertise.
Develop and maintain through a high level of expertise in Crop Production with an emphasis in sustainable agriculture but also a general understanding of Crop Nutrient, Crop Protection, Seed & Precision Ag that is available through Key Cooperative.
Provide sales support for products and services required to implement sustainable farming practices (E.g., cover crops, strip-till, precision nitrogen management, etc).
Provide farmers with education about the availability of public and private conservation funding programs.
Assist in identifying and applying for any grant and cost share opportunities for farmers and Key Cooperative.
Identify and call on farmers that would benefit from sustainable agriculture practices and programs.
Develop and deploy targeted outreach and marketing efforts to encourage sustainable farming adoption.
Plan and execute educational opportunities, like field days and workshops, highlighting sustainable farming practices and considerations.
Collaborate with Truterra’s Representatives to develop peer networks to facilitate farmer-to farmer learning opportunities.
Train Key Cooperative staff on sustainable farming practices opportunities and revenue streams.
Attend Truterra and other Sustainable Agriculture networking opportunities (I.e., field days, conferences). Grows market share with current key accounts and prospects across Key Cooperatives trade territory and beyond.
Service key current and prospective accounts after the sale with a high level of communication to Location Managers and Sales Agronomists.
Service key current and prospective accounts through proper accounting and operational procedures.
Provide regular reports to the Sales & Marketing Manager regarding call activity, customer and industry trends.
