Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) - a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York - seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned College Readiness Manager to support our College Success Team.
The College Readiness Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
The College Readiness Manager provides guidance and support to students in grades K-12 on their journey toward successful college and career paths. The College Advisor will play a crucial role in helping students navigate the complex world of higher education, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their academic futures. Additionally, the College Readiness Manager will lead and supervise a team of college counselors, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, as well as working with the Managing Director of College/Postsecondary Success on any special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). 5 years of experience in college advising or related educational roles.

Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with a team of college counselors. Commitment to the mission of the Harlem Children's Zone and the success of its students.
What you'll do
Develop and implement comprehensive college readiness programs tailored to students in grades K-12. Organize workshops, seminars, and information sessions to educate students about college options, application processes, and financial aid opportunities. Where needed, provide one-on-one counseling to students, helping them identify their academic and career goals. Train a team of counselors to offer personalized guidance on college selection, course planning, and scholarship applications. Assist students and families in understanding and applying for financial aid, scholarships, and grants. Provide information on financial literacy and budgeting to prepare students for the cost of college. Lead a team of counselors HCZ Zone Sites and consult with Promise Academy Counselors. Guide students through the college application process, including essay writing, interview preparation, and submission. Ensure that students meet application deadlines and fulfill admission requirements. Lead and supervise a team of college counselors, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Regular meetings with Site Directors and Counselors to foster a collaborative and positive working environment within the counseling team. Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, scholarship providers and community organizations. Collaborate with external partners to create opportunities and resources for HCZ students. Collect and analyze data related to college acceptance rates, scholarship awards, and student success stories. Use data-driven insights to improve and adapt college readiness programs. Engage parents and guardians in the college preparation process, providing them with resources and support. Foster a sense of community involvement in education. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in all interactions, ensuring that services are accessible to students of diverse backgrounds.
