Job Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced clinical professional to serve as the Clinical Social Worker A/B. This position provides high quality, empirically supported/evidence-based individual and group therapy to assigned caseload of clients. Responsible for ensuring coordination of care with DMH-sanctioned care coordination entities including Case Management, OneCare, etc., as well as other contracted services (ACCS, Clubhouse, etc.) and a variety of other community agencies/providers from whom assigned clients receive services.
Duties and Responsibilities (These duties are a general summary and are not all inclusive):
Obtains all information needed to, in collaboration with the person served or LAR, develop a clinical formulation consistent with professionally recognized theory.Monitors mental and functional status and informs appropriate staff, updates clinical data within one week of significant status changes.Provides individual therapy and care coordination services to all persons served assigned to caseload.Plans and leads or co-leads a wide range of groups, as assigned, including but not limited to, skills training, psychoeducation, and recovery-oriented modalities specifically designed to treat adults who carry diagnoses of SMI.Orients clients to the structure of the treatment modality and groups.Provides weekly group supervision to trainees regarding the content and management of the specific treatment modality.Collaborates with assigned clients and the multidisciplinary treatment team around the development of person-centered, recovery-oriented treatment and crisis/risk management plans that behaviorally describe objectives and define frequency and intensity of interventions.Contributes clinical perspectives in all team meetings and is available to team colleagues for the purpose of emergency/planned client coverage.Responsible for implementing interventions to meet clients' needs and offer support in crisis situations. Maintains regular contact with other DMH site representatives, case managers, ACCS Teams, Residences, medical providers, family members, and others to ensure comprehensive care coordination.Meets all requirements as a Mandated Reporter.Follows agency risk mitigation policies and procedures with respect to reporting any significant event/incident and ensures the completion of all associated required documentation.Responsible for ensuring that all documentation for assigned individual clients is completed in a timely fashion in accordance with billing, DMH standards, policies, and procedures, meeting 100% of DMH, MMHC and third-party legal requirements for quality assurance and utilization review.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of the principles of physiological, psychological, and emotional growth and development, uses of diagnostic procedures and interviewing and problem-solving techniques.Experience with psychotherapies and principles of psychosocial rehabilitationAbility to understand and apply rules, regulations, and laws governing agency and unit operations, maintain accurate records, and follow and give clear and precise oral and written instructions.Capacity to lead and interpret documents such as physician's orders and treatment plans, participate in a multi-disciplinary health care team and exercise sound judgment, make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations.Adept at establishing rapport and deal effectively with persons from diverse cultures, races, and lifestyles, motivating clients to participate in individual treatment plans.Ability to treat and interact with persons who are under physical/emotional stress.Able to assess, analyze, draw conclusions, and determine the applicability of clinical data in order to make and/or take appropriate actions, recommendations, or referrals.Ability to supervise and evaluate staff and trainees.Skilled in interviewing clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures governing agency and unit.Knowledge of the types and uses of agency and unit forms.Understanding of public and private community-based resources for clients.Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed by agency and unit.Ability to direct a multidisciplinary health care team.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: None. (See Required Education and Licenses.)
REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Master's or higher degree in social work.
LICENSES: Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
- Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work.
