What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Engineer to join the Center 1800 organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of robust processes and applying lean six sigma methodologies. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing WP&C implementation, and optimizing operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and develop strategies to reduce unnecessary burden.Apply lean six sigma principles to analyze and optimize existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to address quality issues.Develop and maintain quality metrics and performance indicators to monitor process effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.Provide guidance and support to R&D teams in implementing quality control measures and ensuring adherence to established processes.Conduct internal assessments to monitor process implementation and identify opportunities for improvement.Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in quality engineering practices, and recommend improvements accordingly.

Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 5 or more years' of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and proven experienceProven experience in process development, optimization, and reducing overhead, preferably in a research & development environment.Experience in facilitating teams, conducting causal analysis, creating extensive documentation for each causal analysis, and presenting results to management.Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Working knowledge of Sandia National Laboratories and the organization's structure; National Nuclear Security Administration; U.S. Department of Energy.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated success in conducting Causal Analysis, identifying root cause, determining corrective actions in highly technical areas.Proficient in using quality management tools and software, such as statistical analysis software and process mapping tools.Experience in applying quality management systems and tools, including project management, issues management, risk management in supporting programs.Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skillsDetail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, under strict deadlines and changing priorities.Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable.Strong understanding of information technology and data management processes.Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Center 1800 provides materials expertise and innovation to enable Sandia success in national security missions. The Center has a large facility footprint with many hazards, leading to a complex operational environment. The mission of the 1800 operations team is to enable efficient and effective mission delivery in a safe and secure manner. This multidisciplinary team is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive, dynamic, data-driven, and scalable operating system to ensure operational excellence.
Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
