Job Summary
As CATS (Crew Assignments and Timekeeping System)Application Support Specialist, you will be responsible for safe-guardingapplications in the areas of daily operation, service scheduling. Youwill provide operational support services across pre-production and productionenvironments for CN's core applications, to exchange information with internaland external trading partners. You will join a dynamic Team of SMEs(Subject Matter Experts) accountable for integration of new projects intoexisting core systems. As Application Support Specialist, you will workwith business user, 3rd party vendor, analyze, and provide solutionsfor project integrations, enhancements, and fixes fordefects. Solutions implemented must be sound and follow ITIL, andSOX requirements. All code changes must be optimized, efficient andensure that needs of our business partners, and new customers aremet. Sox and government legislated requirements must also besatisfactorily met.
As a Specialist, you will be expected to understand businessrequirements, troubleshoot issues, perform analysis, design, and program usingITIL framework. Technical documentation, impact analysis, testscenarios are also functions and capabilities within the Specialist's toolkit.

Main Responsibilities
• 15+ yearsexperience with mainframe development.
• Development usingCOBOL programming language.
• Online CICSprogramming with screens.
• Strong batchprocessing with JCL, scheduler tool.
• Experience andability in on-call rotation support role of critical, time sensitiveapplications.
• Perform analysisof system issues, to design effective solutions to meet business needs.
• Provideestimates, technical design, program specifications, code, unit test andintegration testing.
• Contribute to,prepare implementation plan for deployment, cutover and fallback. Monitorpromotion.
• Ensure compliancewith all CN IT standards (e.g. code reviews, security, architecture, systemsplatform, performance, service now SLAs, SOX etc).
Operational Excellence
• Provide 24/7support of CATS service offerings to meet service level agreements (SLA).
• Lead incidentsand support problem investigations, providing resolutions and follow-up onlessons learned.
• Provide technicalexpertise and leadership in mitigating solutions as project resource.
• Experience usingMicrosoft (Teams) and Service Now (SNow) to leverage SDLC and meet servicelevel commitments.
• Work with ProductManagers to ensure all work is prioritized and approved by Product Owners.
• Support businesscontinuity planning and disaster recovery (BRP/DR) efforts.
• Integrate ITILframework and best practices into life cycle of applications supported.
• Complete servicerequests in timely manner to contribute to KPIs on system performance andavailability.
Delivery/Modernization
• Participate inT2C transition of new projects to core support.
• Ensure compliancewith all CN IT standards (ie Security, SOX etc).
• Change andrelease management procedures must be adhered to using Service Now.
• Provide automatedsolutions for process and support activities to reduce resolution time.
• Facilitate/participatein meetings and brainstorming workshops with projects, business, and externalpartners.
Customer Satisfaction
• Foster strongrelationships with business partners, and ITCC.
• Manage (onrotation basis) Team mailbox and Service Now requests.
• Liaison withother teams, vendors, and managed services.
• Assist withbusiness prioritizations for enhancement/defects.
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor's degreein computer science and software engineering.
• Bilingual withhigh proficiency in English (spoken/written)
• Ability tocommunicate effectively with management, as well as across technical &business areas.
